I had a great time at PBG for the Jazz Trio too! Do they have videos up any where?

That was some slightly freaky weather, huh? It was pouring pretty hard on my way home and we got some nice gridlock near the 1stBank center :p

Has anyone done business with Musician's Custom Electronics in Denver? Sounds like i need to get in touch with them regarding my out-of-sorts Rumble.

Repin' Colorado Springs/Teller County here. Currently playing in a Christian, technical, progressive/death-ish, metal band lol. Always looking for other good musicians for colabs, projects etc. I also play decent(?) drums and guitar.

Can I have a number?

They get a pretty mixed report. I haven't used them in quite some time, but I don't recall being 100% happy. But it might have been something out of the ordinary to fix.

As some of you already know, I've been playing bass for an urban gospel group for a while now. Of all things, ME... a white kid secular bassist from South Dakota, playing bass for a black urban gospel band! HA!

Anyway, this Sunday 8/11 at 9:00am GMT (8:00am central time), we're debuting a track or two from our impending CD release on a local radio station, 89.3FM KUVO! If you care to tune in, check out the group... Tyree Morris & Hearts of Worship.

You can listen online, too. Here's the link, then click on "LISTEN LIVE."

It's not your traditional "gospel," either... this is more urban, blending elements of hip hop and R&B. Who knows, you might even hear ME on the radio!

I ended up going with someone else. This other shop give me a time frame twice as fast as the other guys, sounded much more helpful, and have the option of a loaner amp while mine is in their shop.

Thanks for telling me about your experience with the other shop. What work did you have done on your rig?

I was trying to recall, but it's been a long time. I could probably look it up in my tax records, but I don't even remember what year it was. Years ago.

In general, I've found that this area has pretty good tube amp servicing available but solid state and general gear repair is a little bit lacking compared to my experiences back in Boston or on the West Coast.

And he's got quite a mohawk, too! lol

Will listen in, thanks for the notice

You bet! If you do, let me know what you think! This is a VERY different band than I'm used to being in. Got connected with it through "friend of a friend of a friend of a keyboard player" kind of thing. lol

Do you suppose we'll be able to listen to it later in the day as well?

I'm not sure... I haven't investigated if there's a link to archived stuff, but I'm going to try and record it somehow. I'll keep you posted! :)

So is this like a closed group or what's the deal? I think I qualify. I live in Colorado and I'm a bassist

You simply need to provide 3 years tax returns proving your place of residence, pass a urinalysis, and pay a small fee of $50 that goes to scheduled club activities. You will also have to sign all of the required documentation and go though the swearing in ceremony.

So after everyone gets done with the hazing...

lol

A couple people have asked, so I thought I'd give everyone plenty of head's up notice on my next funk band gig.

Whipped up a quick poster for it last night:

mmmm.... Smoked Moose! Is it as yummy as smoked salmon? If so, please save a few big haze-free chunks of meat for me to snack on!

Thanks for the FYI on your gig, 5sg. Sadly, I don't think I'll make it up to Golden but hopefully there will be some TB representin' from someone else!

In other news... I dropped off my Rumble for diagnostics and repairs yesterday. I got a really good vibe from the shop I ended up going to. Sadly, their loaner amp isn't compatible with basses so I'm stuck with my puny headphone amp in the meantime. Meh, better than nothin' right?

They also had a handsome doggy lounging around, recovering from a tumor removal on his neck :( I think he was a red Doberman Pinscher.

A call just came in from them. My Rumble is on the do not repair list from Fender so I'm getting a replacement amp sent to the shop and it should be there in 2 weeks. The shop has to send the old amp back. Drat. I was hoping to sell the old amp to an electronic geek or something :p

Honestly I'd be happy with some baby back ribs or some Texas style brisket, baked beans, a nice garden salad with some walnuts, sliced pears and crumbled bleu cheese and some garlic sauteed broccoli!! Moose gives me G.A.S.!!
