Yes, you prep verbatim, or close to it. Then you diverge from there, and it's all good. They have suggestions, requests, etc. Anything goes. I'm also writing new basslines to re-workings of old songs.

Rehearsals might be as long as six weeks, including the last two with full staging, lights, video, F/X, etc.

It's very involved. Sample triggering like mad, lots of live playing, the occasional tracks, tempo mapped clicks, triggers on drums, people across the stage having the capability of sonically manipulating the sounds coming from other people's rigs, computer rigs that speak to eachother, every band member playing at least three instruments and vocals, etc. Deep stuff.

I'm wondering with coming to the gig with the recorded parts "record-perfect" ,probably bass tones very much in the ballpark of the recording, dotted I's and crossed T's (the way I would assume someone coming to a gig such as this SHOULD be expected to...? ) Does the type of artist you are currently rehearsing with still have suggestions, requests on your playing ?

Also, with this particular type of tour, I'm wondering how long the rehearsal/pre-production for what a two hour show like this takes/will take ?

With backing tracks and loops, click tracks and instrument transitions, it seems that the (fun) work/preparation may go a little farther than many tours, due to the type of production this is. Basically, this isn't guitar, bass and drums and I'd love to hear if you can comment at this time what this undertaking is like and what it's involving ?

Thanks, Loved Ima Robot in Ferndale, MI at the Magic Bag !

Wow, that was good! JMJ rocking the T-Bird!

Two things struck me...

1. Is Trent hitting the gym these days? He looks better than he ever has. Put on some weight and filled out...looks more healthy than he used to.

2. Nobody digs into a drumset like Josh Freese. When he slams as hard as he can, that just gives me chills. Shame he had to quit Devo to do NIN, but Mark Mothersbaugh's loss is Trent's gain so it's all good. Besides, NIN's doing more gigs in one month than Devo's doing all year, so who could blame him?

(EDIT: I'm not gay so you bastages better not call me gay for saying Trent looks good ;) )

You saw them? :hyper::hyper:

Tayste my man,

Depth with that sick Jazz bass sounds great...blend almost on full, tone up, etc.

These are a portion of the same vids on THe Slip DVD, yes.

Updates on setup: I have to ask T.R. if I can reveal. It's nothing terribly exciting, but it is pretty cool...at some point I'm sure I can spill.

Have you tried dropping your Malekko B:assmaster in it's place since they are very similar designs but from what I hear the Malekko is much better.

Thanks for the info, well sorta because now I've got to get a Depth Charge back again :bawl: :D

When my new setup is done I'll send you a PM I think you'll love and might even call it excessive which would just be all kinds of awesome.

Can't wait to get the DVD and hopefully catch a show in the UK, this is the best I've heard NIN and I think alot has to do with yourself my good man those bass tones are huge.

Thanks
