Do you have any ideas about what kind of guitar rig you're going to put together? I know this is TB, but I'm curious about it. Mainly because I hear Trent really digs solid state guitar amps, and most guitarists I know don't care for them. But it seems you younger guys are more accepting of solid state guitar amps than us old farts. So I just wanted to see where your head was at guitarwise.

Sans Amp preamps with Mesa tube stereo power amps into stereo Marshall cabs. At least so far. On stage, two guitar stations are using nothing more than Native Guitar Rig 3. Sounds awesome.

No doubt. Sounds pretty simple to use, too. Using tube power amps would probably give you an edgy best of both worlds thing going on with the Sansamp. I'm an old tube nut but this new guitar technology has improved leaps and bounds over the last few years from what it used to be. I trust we will hear lots of sickness coming from your side of the stage, sir.

very cool gig indeed!! much congrats!

will definitely have to try and squeeze a "working" pass out of a friend of mine that's doing sound up at the Pemberton festival :ninja:

Thanks, y'all!

THat bass you speak of is a Geddy with DiMarzio model J's, black guard, and a bone nut. I put that together for Ima Robot, but it's still hanging in with me, and it sounds and plays sooo good. My tech is making another one now too.

I'm also playing Jaguar basses (one custom one Fender is making for me), P-basses, and Thunderbirds, and maybe a Ripper too.

Best,
JMJ

Man I'm so excited to hear about and see the full rig when it's done I've been trying to replicate those NIN bass fuzz tones for years so your incite will be much appreciated.

Do you know what keys and synths your taking out yet?

Fender custom Jaguars!

Show and tell...!

JMJ,

this is my main gigging bass with model Js and a Fender japan 70s precision reissue neck. and all hipshot hardware (with a de-tuner which is crucial for dropping on the fly - or if you do not have a tech to hand you a bass ;) )

Soon I'm going load a "flatline" (optical) compressor in place of the preamp. something to ramp up the punch even more for the flats.

I think it looks very NIN - perhaps it could inspire you ;):D

Oh and a quick question.

Are you going to stick with a controller for the synth bass lines or did you have any leeway in giving a spin on the effects and instrument used (stringed instrument versus key-bass - your pedalboard versus existing patches)

Thanks.

Awesome man Thanks!

Man, I've been a member to alot of blogs / sites and never do I remember a celebrity member responding to threads. It be like asking Bret Farve random questions - do you really he'd take time to do that? Justin I'm really flattered that you'd talk to us yahoos let alone host a forum. I guess TB is the real deal!

Big NIN fan so I'm looking forward to the upcoming tour and your contribution. TR is a genius. Also would like your take on Simon Gallup, a lot of comments on here don't support his ability as a bassist - obvious I disagree.

Simon Gallup?? He's a f*#&%ng genius. Any haters beware; Simon's lines and approach and tone leave all of yours in the dust...and I say that without even having heard you! ;-) He's written more memorable basslines than most people ever could dream of laying down in a career.

Tayste, my synth rig will be all laptop based, with maybe a Muse Receptor on the side. There are modulars on stage, but my area will be mostly laptop based.

Bass Junkie: sick sick Jaguar! Love it with that neck. I'm a fan. My black one is stock with the block inlays, sounds rad through my rig. My custom one will be a different animal altogether. I was thinking about a black guard last week, but I kind of dig the white one...particularly since my Geddy's already have black ones.

Best,
JMJ
