hahaha, "myself". That is where he loses it.
I mean, you should not badmouth another musician, and you should not compare yourself to other musicians and get the better off it.
Very few people are stupid enough to combine these two "sins".
He should stick to the bass and get very far from the microphone.

I generally ignore all such lists: there's bound to be controversy regarding such opinions. But this list is just way off on so many accounts, it's ridiculous.

I think there's a reason to this, though. This was a poll, and the guys you find on the top of the heap are some of the most popular bassists on the internet. Definitely a correlation.

As a guy on the comments under John Myung on the Music Radar page states,

"I think the question will need to be rewritten. ‘Which bass player has the best online presence?’ Thus John Myung will win. Not that that’s necessarily the wrong result.”

I'm not sure you can rank bassists once you get to a certain level but this list looks particularly ridiculous! What the hell were these guys rated on? On second thought, I couldn't care less. Even if it were explained to me it wouldn't make this list look any less "wuh?".

Seems like a pretty clear bias towards prog and metal. Not that some of those guys aren't great players, the rankings are just skewed that way.

and the whole jaco/burton thing. I agree *hides*
honestly, jaco bores me to tears, i cannot make it through more than about a minute of 'portrait of tracy' before i press stop.
But that's the problem with these lists, what i think makes an amazing player is always gonna be different to someone else

I'm a huge JM fan, so naturally I think it's great that he's up there, although that list really was missing some Levin.

Also: When I searched for Paul Gray to find out who he was, Wiki came up with the bassist for The Damned (who, as far as I could tell, isn't dead), rather than the other one.

IMO, John myung is overrated ( I like his playing and he is better than I'll ever be, but I wouldn't put him in the top 100, let alone #1), cliff Burton does belong in the top 25 (but not that high), and slipknot is awful (Gray was pretty good,I'll admit, but not even top thousand). Jaco and Wooten should be top 2 ( I don't care in which order).
