Does anyone have any butterscotch blond bass with tort? I'd like to see that.

Other wise, there is tort and there's tort... Squier often uses a "tort" PG that's actually just a flat sticker on plastic. it looks horrible. Then there is red tort and brown tort. My personal fave is the Warmoth brown tort. If I can find a pic I'll post it.

Have you tried real peperoni? While it's true that tort is a little easier to keep clean, and in most cases is more durable, there's something to be said for the tone, and feel of the real thing. Leo Peperoni's early designs didn't take off as fast as some other pioneers, but, the real reason you almost never see one for sale is that no one lucky enough to have one is willing to let go of their slice.

The best we could tell this '69 was originally burst and tort that was repainted black a long long time ago. Still have original pick guard painted black. Would love to uncover the original tort someday. But don't know the paint chemistry thing to not ruin the finish. So I put this new re-issue tort guard on there that works for now.

Best looking bass on that wall is the bound P-bass. and i mean, REALLY good-looking!

Thanks! It's an MIJ Aerodyne P, I changed the pickguard for anodized gold, put on J-bass control knobs, disabled the bridge pickup (never used it) and moved the input jack to top-mount position.. It gets a lot of play for me in live settings, mostly due to it being waaaay lighter than that Jazz (which is actually a delight to play though)

Sweet. Glad I could help.
Also, if you have green shag carpet, wood paneling, yellow\orange\or avocado colored appliances, a perm, a powder blue suit, or anything tie dyed you may want to ditch those as well. It being the 21st century and all.

Wow thanks. Are you sure you didn't miss anything ? I wouldn't want to mess up and use a color prohibited in the 21st century or anything like that.

I have a natural ash bass with poly - not quite butterscotch, with tort - looks really nice.

While I don't think I'll be changing your mind with this pic of my '82 MIJ Squier, I'll just post it anyways ;)

Whoa.... you've done it.

I never thought I'd say this, but that tort pickguard actually looks good.

I think because from the picture, it looks like there's very little or no red in it. So it doesn't remind me of the time I puked up blood.

What is that thing??? It looks like a pepperoni!
QUOTE]

Hmm, you may have uncovered the secret to the popularity of tort. Pepperoni is the most popular pizza topping, tort looks like pepperoni, therefore people subliminally are drawn toward tort.

Tort haters probably like sausage or mushrooms on their pizzas. Those who eat plain pizzas likely prefer no pick guard at all on their bass. And don't get me started on what kind of basses people who like pizza with anchovies must play...

Yes, you might be on to something here.
