Thanks for my new favorite Jaco picture. Don’t remember seeing that venue or him looking better. Or his hands looking bigger.

Looks like maybe the same gig as this photo.

Interesting group of things hanging on that wall...in line with some of her lyrics.
The question I have for this pic is...who's room is it?
Looks like a pretty small room, kinda too small for a hotel room.
She's ten+ years past that being her parents house.
Maybe an early New York City or Staten Island apartment.

When I see pics of her chatting with Deborah Harry and Chrissie Hynde, when she was post Runaways and maybe at the beginning of her solo success, I wonder if she was asking questions/learning things from those two older women (13 years and 7 years) about how to navigate the world she was moving in.

I think she was worldly wise after dealing with Kim Fowley and his shenanigans from the time she was 15.

In the Sonic Highways episode on LA Rodney Bingenheimer talks about Joan being at his club a lot but says “she didn’t come to dance, she came to learn” or words to those effect. I think she was always pretty switched on to take in anything that would help her make the music she wanted.

nailed it, if you get started like that in the business you’re going to look around for alternative ways to carry on in the future. Joan, Chrissie and Deborah all have had long careers because they are talented, cool and smart.
