I love that he recorded two lines for Walk on the Wildside so that he would be paid double.
On this day — April 7, 1956 — Little Richard’s “Long Tall Sally” entered the Billboard Top 100, beginning a run that would take it to No. 6 on the pop chart while also reaching the top of the R&B chart.
What makes the story even more fascinating is that Pat Boone’s cover version entered the chart at the same time and would also become a major hit, peaking at No. 8. It was one of the clearest examples of the era: the raw, explosive energy of early Rock ’n’ Roll colliding with the polished pop market of the 1950s.

That's kinda weird. I thought Eric quit and that's when they brought in Jeff Beck. I wonder if there was a transitional phase between Eric leaving and Jeff taking over. Or was this a sit-in situation. Either way, I bet that was a great gig to watch.
