What the heck IS that thing??! The knob layout is truly unique... And those pickups!

It's a Warmoth Jazz I had custom routed for three pickups. It has one bridge and two neck Fender Super 55 split-coil humbucking J pickups, spaced 2" apart edge-to-edge.

Each pickup has an individual concentric V/T control, going through a [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] before hitting a master concentric V/T (closest to the jack).

The Turnstyle is a tone selector switch, not a pickup selector switch. (It can be used as a pickup selector, but it's capable of a helluva lot more). In position 1, I have full manual control over all pickups. In positions 2-6, the tones are preset and I only have control at the master V/T. The presets are Precision, Jazz, Rickenbacker, Thunderbird, and Overdrive. The signal is totally quiet and clean, and it sounds great.

Sorry about the thread hijack. I included that picture of my bass in a post responding to post with a picture of a gorgeous P bass taken in the grass.

Or did I completely miss the sound of sarcasm whizzing by over my head?

No sarcasm... True fascination from me. I'd love to read more about the wiring etc... Is there a thread dedicated to it yet?
