I know that I'm odd for an old goth/metal-head, but I totally dig both kinds.... country AND western. ;) Actually, I got into it back in the early 90's, when I realized that all of my hunting buddies listened to it in their trucks all the time. I decided to open my mind to it, and I realized that it's some darn good stuff.

My favorites:

George Strait (one of the best live shows I've ever seen!!!)
Toby Keith
Alison Krauss
Travis Tritt
Trisha Yearwood (sooooo hot, want to touch the ....)
Charlie Daniels
Alan Jackson
Garth Brooks

I like a lot of the new stuff - it's possibly the best bass playing in commercially widespread music right now. It runs the gamut of styles now, and the songs are good, too! Something that's seriously missing on T40 radio these days....

+1 agree... alot of new country is getting away from the old root/fifths old school of country bass sound.

Thanks for the votes and replies love the vids great stuff and i'm learning more and getting exposed to more music.:)

I voted some - I dig the old school stuff, not so much the new - sounds too slick and formulaic to my ears.

This is one of the best names of a band I've heard in a while! Great sounds, too!

As long as it's blue grass and there's a mental banjo and everyone looks like each others father and cousin at the same time.

Sig-worthy words, shadow! Thanks for the laughs.

I've never been really big into country, but I've been realizing that a lot of what I write could be considered country-ish. With that said, it's really gotten me into artists like Shooter Jennings, Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers (always been a HUGE Roger Clyne fan), Jerry Jeff Walker, Brad Paisley, Wilco, etc.

See? I ain't lyin about Paisley and Gill. They is some muthahuggy players!

Cody Canada from Cross Canadian Ragweed is a damn fine rock player, too, especially for such a young guy/band. Probably the best of the young guns out there right now, and becoming a fine songwriter. And the cowgirls ain't messin around at a CCR show!

Let's not forget the best thing about country music......

the cowgirls that go to the country bars to dance!!!!!! :hyper:

I went to see my new bands last gig with the old bass player at a big country bar in our area. WOOOO.... WEEE were there some hot girls dancing there from old enough to get in to the older mom types who look to hot to be moms...if ya know what i mean :smug: I will get some pics as i get in this band and we gig for ya.
