This still holds up nicely... the whole thing. These guys opened with "Helpless" when I saw them in 1998.
You actually covered a cover of a cover of a cover. Jesus Is Just Alright was first done by The Art Reynolds Singers and then by The Byrds and then by Underground Sunshine before The Doobie Brothers did their version (which I like and used to play). It was covered by many other acts.![]()
There are a great many songs that I didn't realize were the original.
Some I just like more because they were able to do them "better." I love the Everly Brothers, but I prefer Linda Ronstadt's version of When Will I Be Loved... and trust me, it's hard to improve on the Everlys.
Another is Roy Orbison's Love Hurts(I think it's his or the Everly Brothers, I've heard both) but I'm like Nazareth's better.
