Help me out. Bonus point if it isn’t to “girly”. I would prefer I didn’t smell like lilacs and lavender. :D

Udder ointment is a traditional for those skinproblems on your hand.
Cheap, desinfectant, non-poisonous, not too girly.

I use the stuff from time to time.
Also good for chapped hands.

For my job I have to wash my hands constantly. This causes my skin to get really dry. Around the nails in particular my skin is literally cracking open. It has gone from simply annoying to painful.

Edit to add: Pics have been added a few posts down. And I drink TONS of water daily. Tons! My reusable water bottles are a litre and I go through probably 6 or so in a work day. I am constantly pounding water.

What hasn’t worked?
O’Keeffe’s Working Hands- works fine for about five minutes until it either soaks in or dries up.

Aquaphor - (sp) somehow does fine for the rest of my hands but my fingertips are still cracked all to pieces

Most “regular” lotions my wife keeps around the house

Help me out. Bonus point if it isn’t to “girly”. I would prefer I didn’t smell like lilacs and lavender. :D

:D You must have made it about halfway through the OP. That stuff is on the list of things that did not work for me.[/QUOTE]

Hopefully worth mentioning re: this stuff - I found the formula in the plastic tin (pictured above) way more effective than the lotion version that you pictured earlier.

I wasn't specific enough. I've used both.

+1 on Neutrogena.
A million years ago I worked in a paint store. I always had some sort of paint on me. Stupidly I used white spirit to clean it off my hands. After a time I guess I started de-fatting my skin...
Neutrogena worked. Worked fast. Worked well.

That, or Udder Butter. That'll work.

My hands and fingers used to look like yours...especially in the winter. I see you're in the medical field and sanitize your hands a lot. I'm in sales, so handshaking a ton is the norm. After a call, I used to use an antibacterial hand sanitizer that was 99% alcohol...like Purell. It killed my hands. Get into a Bath and Bodyworks, and get their line of hand sanitizers. Less alcohol and just as efficient. Your hands will thank you!

Hey @two fingers, the place we buy our shea butter (Vermont Soap) has it on sale right now. A 1.9 ounce jar for $5, and $5 shipping.
All natural, organic, not tested on animals, no scents added, yadda, yadda, yadda.

Cerave cream. Not the lotion, the creme. It's not natural, or organic. It's probably tested on animals. And it's stupid expensive. It hasn't been taken to the north pole or used on cow boobies. But it works.

Oh, and drink more water........apparently it cures everything, including the unnatural removing of oils in hands by repeated washing. ;)

Trimmed nails short and used emery board on the thick skin built up around the nails. Rubbed in a bit of Aquaphor Baby Butt cream (like Vaseline, only much thicker) on skin and cuticles.

I'm already thin skinned so if this helps keep the cracks away, win-win. :smug:

See how it goes.

Oh, yeah..drinking more water even though it's colder...gotta keep hydrated. Should help too.:-)

If you're anywhere cold, don't forget to wear gloves outside!

I have the same problem every winter, I've used everything over the years. This stuff is fairly new and works great. It also helps to back off the hot water when you warshin dem hams.

So I drive anywhere from a half hour to an hour at the beginning of my work day every day. Something that has helped a LOT with my hands recently is slathering on some Bag Balm and putting on some Nitrile (similar to latex.... see below) disposable gloves for the drive each way. That keeps my steering wheel from getting greasdy but also allows that stuff to "soak in" good. I tried wearing the gloves for work but they tear easy and I find that I really need my actual fingertips for work more than I thought.

I have also been filing dry skin off and caring for my cuticles more.

Seems to be working.

Working Hands is good stuff, think it's even made here in Cincy. A word of warning, it will sting your hands if they're in rough shape. I've used Bag Balm in the past, it never soaked in like Working Hands does, just felt like Vaseline greasy hands to me. My index fingers get it the worst, get a big crack on the side most every winter.

That's what I had on my index, thumb and middle on both hands. I got those under control but the dry and hangnails I'm still working on.

But I found these extra large gloves so I'm sealing hem up for while each day when I can. I'm even able to TalkBass through them on my phone. :D

And when I choke idiots there's no evidence!!!! Win win! :roflmao:
