I had a Rogue LX 205, and it was nice. Then again, I don't know anything about basses. Just how to hold em and play notes. It's a wonder why they were discontinued. The worst I played was a Yamaha. No matter what you did with the actions, the strings were always too high off the frets. It did build my finger strength though.

No matter what you did with the actions, the strings were always too high off the frets. It did build my finger strength though.
In Brazil we used to have a brand called Tonante. Man, if you ever played one you'd understand the true meaning of crappy.
Not a brand in particular. The one bass that sticks in my mind was my friends Dean Mutant Starfish Bass when I was in high school. I just remember there being nothing I enjoyed about that bass, not a single redeeming quality. Except the fact that it looked awesome!!! (When I was 14)
My first bass was a Knox, from Montgomery Wards. The neck was about like your forearm, and you could fly an airplane under the strings. Corse thatwas in about '65 and I knew nothing about setup!
I'msure it would have been fine with a proper setup, but when i was in a local music store i picked up a random bass (cant remember the name) that had such a low action that it buzzed and muted itself no matter where it ws played.

without a doubt a rogue 5 string...went to a gig and the battery in my bass died (D@mn you active pick ups!) had to borrow the opening bands bass...kid was something like 13...no amount of help from my rack could fix what amounted to a raping of my ears...:shutters:
my Johnson p bass kicked wholesale ass after a pup replacement and setup,but then again,you could pick up two of the same guitar by the same brand and they could be night and day.
the worst off brand I everplayed was this crescent p bass my guitarist has.rough fretboard bad frets and action that you can put your fingers under.also,the worst pups I've ever heard.
now the worst name brand bass I've played was an ernie ball musicman stingray HH.
the neck was like a 2x4 and it sounded like a hatful of ********,and it was 1700 dollars.I cannot recallhating a brand name bass so much.
Every P Bass I've ever tried has sounded and felt like garbage on toast. It made me think I just didn't like fender style basses, but then I found a Squier P that was decent. It's like a challenge every time I visit the music store... See if I can feel good things on a P. It's happened once.
Dishonorable mention goes to the black Jackson short scale bass I had in the late 80s. That was pretty terrible feeling with it's somewhat floppy strings and unreasonably high action, but sounded decent for the terrible hair metal that was being banged out of it...

Epiphone thunderbird. Weird, cause loads of people love 'em. I thought it was awkward and heavy, and the frets were badly laid out. Not to mention it was a store demo bass... Poor thing never stood a chance 
My first bass, a Silvertone P bass. The hardware on it was pretty weak... I tried restringing it with the old strings from my Fender Jazz bass because the strings on the Silvertone had turned into rubber bands and the Jazz's strings weren't that bad yet. The bridge saddles were so flimsy that I just gave up.
Played a few, can't remember most of 'em. But My Aria ProII Thor Sound TS400 turned out to be less than wonderful, and the Robelli USB490 for which I traded it was only marginally better. And the Robelli "MM clone" bass that was given to me a couple years ago sounds good but plays bad.
I really don't understand why those old Arias are fetching as much $$$ as they do nowadays. It was not a bad bass, but it was not a good bass either.

Mine was my first bass a department store special $54.00 brand name NORMA it was a short scale P copy with the action high enough to fit your thumb under it. amazingly it stay in tune and their wasn't a dead spot on the neck. Perfect for the beginner NOT!
As much as I will get chastised for this...Alembics, I love the look and the sound, but every single one that I have played felt like crap.
