Crazy downstairs neighbor

OP, you have an 96 year old neighbour living on her own and taking care of herself. You should be celebrating her not calling her crazy. You have no idea what she has lived through and done during those many years. Treat her with respect and talk to her with patience to resolve the issue.

If you want to rehearse with a band, rent a studio as most of us do. Private practice doesn't require an amp just a simple micro mixer and a pair of headphones.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if everyone ,regardless of race or creed, could treat each other with respect and understanding.

And just because people are old doesn't mean they deserve respect. That's agism. Treat her like you would a 25 year old banging on your floor.

All people are created equal and should be ***** smacked as such.

Yeah I never understood the whole concept of just blindly respecting someone just because they are older than you. Sounds like something that some old ignorant moron in power came up with and spread around so that he could try and get those younger than him into subservience or something.

From the OP's post it doesn't seem like he ever disrespected his downstairs neighbor and her banging seems to be pretty unreasonable and disrespectful so if all the facts are straight here as to what is actually happening I would say that this lady doesn't deserve the respect. Having said that, it's probably all a misunderstanding, just talk to her.

Sounds like a real nasty old women..I would bang back when she gets the broom out. If you are not being loud, then she just has nothing else to do but complain, well...give her something to complain about then~

Once again another TB thread divides into opposing sides and starts straying away from the op's questions :rollno:

OP-regardless of whether you can use it at proper volumes now, get the Ampeg. If shes banging on the ceiling when you're having dinner and such, then just ignore her. I'm certainly not saying to blast the floor with 29475932927 watts of F# tuned fury, but don't tiptoe through the tulips just to appease her either. Be respectful, and ignore the taps. If you wanted to be a bit cheeky, you could always mimmic the taps on the ceiling with your bass.

I would call that fighting fire with water, which is what you should do. I was more getting at all the people saying to just bang back at her or make even more noise, that definitely won't help resolve anything.

I could be mistaken but it sounds like you don't actually know this woman, and neither of you has made an effort to discuss this. Typical human interaction. It's easier to assume one's rightousness than empathize.
