True, but the ratios between the string gauges should stay the same, which would then simplify to prime numbers, and I think that's somehow supposed to be important to the theory here. Or at least seem important to it. Or at least be confusing.

Probably not, but it wouldn't matter in the slightest if it were. It's still BS. The basic absurdity is that these numbers are expressed in terms of arbitrary measures that don't exist in nature. There are no inches, millimeters, miles, or degrees Celsius in nature. So a string that's described as .043 is not really 43 of anything in any objective sense.

While I'm a big fan of prime numbers (who isn't?), I have never heard this before. Thoughts?

Anytime the path of anything strays into numerology CHANGE COURSE. Nothing good comes from that.

Just installed CM Monels on my Sadowsky Satin Series. Great organic tone with growl. They're making me want to play more. I've used Curt's nickel roundwounds for a pretty good while, but these are in another league in my opinion.

The prime numbers thing may be poppycock, but the strings sound great. I actually wrote to RotoSound two years ago to ask why they didn’t make monel roundwounds, and Jason How wrote back and said it sounded like a great idea… but Curt Mangan beat them to it.

I wanted them because acoustic guitarists use monel roundwounds, and I was trying to get a piezo-equipped solid body to sound more like my Godin A4 with bronze strings. The GHS Pressurewound Bronze strings sound amazing AND work with magnetic pickups, but they corrode wicked fast. These Curt Mangan monels sound even better and make my solid body with piezos sound closer to my Godin than I’ve ever gotten—not perfect, but close enough to only take one bass when I need both electric and truly acoustic sounds.

AND they thunder through the magnetic pickups and a tube amp!
