Custom DIY 2x15 cab build

William Riker is a little taller and fatter than Jean-Luc Picard. They both don't fit into the captain's chair the same way.

Same holds true for 15" drivers. Because there is no standardization, sometimes the required cutout dimension is not the same for two different products. Somehow I think that this may be the case for the Faital. Maybe I'm wrong.

+1. I once bought an unloaded 215 and thought I would just slap my JBL K140's in there, no problem. Wrong.

i guess i just like the faitals so much that i prefer using both of them. ;)

here's a short snippet of the ST900/2x15 Faital cab on last night's gig (please excuse my vocal clams ;), it's only the second time that i've sang it). the recording was made with a zoom H4n off to the side of stage.

here's another one (Cinnamon Girl by Neil Young). it's the very first time that we've ever played it and we did it without a single rehearsal. one of the guitarists emailed us the night before the gig and suggested that we add it to the set list so we just learned it separately, and decided to try it. it has a few mistakes, but IMO, it didn't come out all that bad considering that the guitarist and i worked out the vocal harmonies for 3 seconds on stage right before we counted it off. ;)

Killer band. Sounds great as always.

David, some folks do that with those dark sounding 810e's from the 2000's...they put a couple Jensen Mods in the top position to add some vintage SVT brightness to the bigger bottom of those cabs. John was one of the first guys to try that mod and he said it made a world of difference. So it could work well to mix the Faital and 3015. But it seems to me more of a move you'd do to rescue a cab that wasn't doing it for you without spending a lot of money rather than something you'd want to do in a new build. Besides, which speaker would you mic? ;)

Very nice.
The bass sits nicely in the mix and is clearly heard (without being too loud) inspite of reasonably distorted guitars and bright cymbals.
Did you use an outboard EQ with the amp?

i actually built it for my STM900 but it sounds great with my SVT too.
Super nice John.
I had Jorg Schroeder bill me a cab with the thought in mind.
A light weight 2x15 no tweeder, very old school.
Jorg did it, 45 pounds, and it sounds amazing with my "Streamliner".
And my Ampeg V4BH.
Can't wait to try it with the new Fender Bassman 100T.
