Custom DIY 2x15 cab build

Super nice John.
I had Jorg Schroeder bill me a cab with the thought in mind.
A light weight 2x15 no tweeder, very old school.
Jorg did it, 45 pounds, and it sounds amazing with my "Streamliner"..................
thanks!
what speakers did he use in your 215? (i'm guessing 3015's?)

BTW, i just finished 2x15 cab number two today. this one has a powder coated steel grill that is removeable (velcro'd on), so i can make a grill cloth one for it if i want it to have the more conventional look. with the heavier steel grill, this one weighs 49lbs 6oz and will be approx 3lbs lighter with the grill cloth one.

no i can A/B the 15PR400's and the 3015's in less than 5 seconds. ;) plus it only takes about 20 seconds to switch it from ported to sealed.

The black grill is much better looking, IMO. I like the way it shows off the 15s. I'm curious as to why didn't you use aluminum, since aluminum takes power coat very well?

i used a steel on this one because i actually ordered it for the first one but didn't receive it until after the aluminum showed up, so rather than have a spare, or buy another aluminum one and then have it powder coated (the steel one came already powder coated) i ended up just building another cab to use it.

just finished the grill cloth panel for cab #2 today. i used OEM Ampeg cloth so it'll match when i use the cab with my SVT.
the nice thing about the grill cloth panels is that they are very lightweight. the steel perf one weighs 5lbs 7oz and the grill cloth one weighs only 2lbs 3 oz. with the grill cloth one, the cab weighs only 46lbs. with the steel one it weighs just under 49 1/2lbs.

Then you'd have your own Signature Ampeg cab (one of a kind).

yep. ;)
the ampeg badge arrived today so here it is with my VR head:

IMO, this dual 3015 one sounds great with it. funny thing is, the cab weighs about half as much as the head (head:85lbs, cab: 46lbs).

I know it can get louder, but is it more sensitive?
KO

yep, it's quite a bit louder than my 810 with less watts going into it, and i think that it sounds better too.

the ampeg's sensitivity is 100db and the dual 3015's is 103db (same as the barefaced super 15's spec).
