51% is fine! It looked like it might be one of those 38% ones I've seen floating around Much under 50% will gimp your port flow a little at least it seems like it to me...I had an old Dr. Bass cab with a 38% grill and the port would really rattle the hell out of the grill with 3015LFs.

i might just cut a piece of some black pantyhose and cover them on the inside attached with a rubber band.

I like this - that’s a great idea except maybe use something like cable ties, wire, ring w/glue, or something that won’t rot and break as fast as rubber bands. Awesome 215, very nice work - and I’d paint the grill too (glossy black).

yeah, i definitely wouldn't want to go under 50%. i did have a small grill rattle when playing the low F#, but it wasn't in front of, or anywhere near a port. it was near the upper left of the top speaker. i added four more silicone iso-standoffs and it's completely rattle free now.

it's pretty efficient and super loud with my SVT. Eminence rates them at 100.8db per speaker, and winSD rates them at 98db, so depending on who you go by, the cab has a 101-103db sensitivity.

That seems about right to me too - IE, the Barefaced Super Fifteen has two 3015 drivers and it’s 103dB.

Why stop there?, you're selling yourself short. Hell, call it 30hz for a good low B and randomly pull some other huge spl numbers out of your backside while you're at it. It's what the pro's use after all.

the grill is going to be satin black epoxy paint. i made my own logo for it out of 1/8" lexan a painted the back of it with silver lexan paint. i'll clean and paint the grill tomorrow and by tomorrow night it should be ready to assemble.

BTW, the cab is 14" deep (not 15"). it's 24 1/2 wide X36" tall and weighs 46 1/2 lbs.

I like model names, man. I can never keep it straight whether somebody has a 21210 or a 21012...it just doesn't sound right. Barefaced has some cool names like the Big Baby, or maybe borrow a bit of Roger Baer's midevil caligraphy and call it "he who doth not to another bow" or something.

Given JohnK's affinity for the best of vintage stuff, combined with the vibe of the Streamliner, should maybe come with a spinoff of the Rocket88 or the Fairlaine or Vista Cruiser or something, with the appropriate cursive font of course.
