I love coffee..but make mine decaf. A year ago I discovered that I have become pretty sensitive to caffeine. A cup of regular coffee would cause a mind-splitting headache. I was also quite heavy at that time and my blood pressure was up there. I'm now 50 pounds lighter, blood pressure is normal, and a cup of regular coffee turns me into a lunatic who can't sit still.

I used to drink 6-9 cups a day. Now I'm down to probably 3. I should switch to tea. Most nights I need only about 4-4 1/2 hours of sleep. Sometimes the caffeine settles me down. Other nights I just can't sleep for anything . Well, I had a winning ticket peeps, but alas it was only for $2

Mule, I can function with 4 hours of sleep..but just barely. 6 hours is better. If I push myself hard at the gym, I need a full 8 hours to recover.

My wife was out to the "Mother/Son Night" at the school, so I stayed home with my daughter, we had ice cream sundaes, and we played board games. I played some slap on my Diamond P, while sitting in my little corner......and my little sweetheart snapped a picture. Now, bear in mind, I'm pretty tired after my week at work. Excuse the attire, I'm a mechanic in my real life, so the uniform kinda goes with the territory, but I'll submit my own pic....it may be the only one you ever see of me on TB......so here goes.......

And yes, my hands are actually that big......

That's awesome. I get to spend a lot of time with my two girls since my wife works nights. No worries on the uniform..I'm a mechanic as well.
I'm good.
I've been married for almost 15 years, been with her for about 21 years. Best woman ever, she's my one-and-only, forever. We were high school sweethearts. I know people say that that stuff never works out.....but I don't buy it. I am thankful every day that she's in my life.......
I mean, really, she puts up with my mediocre bass playing. What else could you ask for?

I'm seriously impressed with his ability to remember the lyrics to that song while drunk.
Uh-huh.
Bright red beard. Brownish/red colored hair. I get the same kinda sun-tan that you get......red and redder. If I had more hair or it were longer, it'd be curly. It was when I was younger. I got the shoulder freckles, although none on my face.....
Funny thing about the red hair.....and you'll see it as you get older, Tat, is that you don't get gray. The new ones come in blonde or whitish colored. My beard is full of them.
You might not tell from the pic....but here's the stats;
38 Y/O
6' 1" tall
205 lbs.
35" waist
Size 11 shoe
33" inseam
Typically wear a size 48 jacket....off the rack.
I'm not as huge as Mulebagger....but at one time I could put up some weight when I was younger....my top weight when I was more physical was 225 lbs. or so with a 32" waist....but I got older and when that happens you lose a step or two....
I had the nicest thing happen today. For the first time in my life, I was the recipient of a random act of kindness.
A couple of weeks ago, I needed to put new tires on my truck and get some front end suspension work done. The budget could handle one or the other in full, but not both. No point doing the front end work without the tires, so I went to get tires first. The plan was - put on 2 - put them on the front, do the suspension work and alignment, then go back in a month and get the last two tires.
So - the guy who was taking care of me at the tire store, goes out and looks at the tires on the truck and then comes back and says - I know you called ahead and asked about these tires, but we have a tire in stock that's really a better fit for your vehicle in this traffic on these roads. Normally it runs about $40 a tire more than the ones you asked about, but if you're interested in hearing more about them, I'm going to knock them down to the price of the tires you originally asked for. (Kindness #1)
Then, he says - I'd really like to do something for you. The tires on your truck are really at the replace point. You know that - you told me. And the work you want to do on the suspension - you should have all the tires new so it all balances right. So - how much can you afford today for the tires - I'll put all four tires on, and you pay what you had budgeted for today. Then I'll do a "layaway" on the others and you can come back and make payments. Would you be interested in that? (Kindness #2)
So - I took him up on it. Got the tires. Went and got the suspension work done (most of it). Went back in today to pay them 1/2 of the balance and let them know the date I'd be in to finish paying it off. The guy takes my paperwork and he can't find my invoice in the computer. He calls the guy who originally wrote the deal. He can't find my paperwork in the computer. He calls the manager who comes out, looks up the invoice then says, "Oooh.. Yeahhhhh...I remember this." He then takes a pen out of his pocket and writes "PAID IN FULL" on my invoice and hands it back to me. I'm not sure what the look on my face was, but whatever it was prompted, "Around here, we just do the right thing and this was the right thing to do. Remember us when you need tires again, and please recommend us when your friends need tires. Have a great day." (Kindness #3)
Thank you just isn't enough for a moment like that.

On the hair - I started with a white streak at the front when I was fourteen. For a lot of years, I wore it like that - just because I liked it. Then I got tired of people asking about it. I have a long streak of white now - and I keep it tinted ginger....no roots and no white get to show. It's more than 50% white now if I let it go natural. On top of the red, the white looks odd, so it's now an every 5 week visit to the stylist for her magic. Someday - maybe about the 70% white mark, I'll let it all go there and wear it proudly, but not today.

That's good, Tat. There are a lot of good people out there. I always get heated when the evening news runs stories about the mechanic/contractor who just shafts the customers. It's not the norm. Most of us mechanical types aren't out to screw anyone over.....it's just the small percentage who seem to get all the press.
I'm not a car mechanic. My father was. I'm an HVAC mechanic, so I work on heating systems, ventilation, and air conditioning. I've been managing a crew at a company for about 7 years now. And I do my best to be honest and give every customer a great deal. I remember dealing with a customer who'd bought work from a large, retail company (I won't name them.....but think....."box store home improvement"), and it was totally effed up. I went in, and we did the corrections/repairs honestly and worked with the customer. It was a great experience. They called us back for more work and we have, yet another, loyal customer who trusts us.
I'm glad you got a good deal. Here's the thing; when you treat a customer good, you're likely to get a return customer. Nothing is as good for business as a good reputation and honesty.
I bet you go back there when you need more work.....and that's what businesses should look for.

That's very cool of them to do that, Tat. I managed a shop at one point, and there were times that I would do something like that for the customer and get in trouble over it by the shop owner. He wanted me to charge straight book time for labor and charge LIST for parts..I couldn't do that. Needless to say that my days at that shop were numbered after that and shortly after I left, the shop closed. I'm a fleet mechanic now and am much happier, but it does my heart good to hear that there are still good mechanics out there who value customer service and not their wallets.
