CWB 14: Whiskey and Beer

Makes the avatar that much cooler. :p

Yeah.....the irony.

It's a picture of the "Jack-In-The-Box" clown from a Dangerous Toys album....one of my favorite bands from when I was a teenager...but it always seemed to fit.....

The red hair kinda fits me. But the expression on the face of they clown kinda sums up my personality.....

In some strange way.....that avatar truly represents me.....on a lot of levels....

Deep, yet shallow.....

Tat- that's just your good Karma coming back to you :) Glad you got some new skins on the truck

Furry- that can be any code you like :) I've baked a few pies in my day, but they weren't the greatest. The looked nice, but, meh. I'd probably buy one and heat it up ( that part is not code)!

BSB- I think I've got your darn feet. Let's swap so I can get myself a nice pair of Cowboy boots. This 13EEE thing is getting old. I'm tired of getting a red clown nose with my dress shoes! Nice Pbass you've got there. I had the Deluxe with that pickup combo. Super versatile. Should have held on to that one.

The spring construction season is picking up so I'll be a CWB (Carpenter with Bass) all weekend. Hate when it cuts into my musical schedule, but I'm so happy for the 2nd job.

BSB I can't agree with you more about the customer service. I haven't had to advertise in 12 years because my business is 100% referral. Actually grew up closer to you in upstate NY and restored victorians in a family business. I talk about a HVAC nightmare :)

Oh lord stop teasing me! A pic of those hands was enough to get a reaction I won't describe here. Now you go and do this????

On the hair - I started with a white streak at the front when I was fourteen. For a lot of years, I wore it like that - just because I liked it. Then I got tired of people asking about it. I have a long streak of white now - and I keep it tinted ginger....no roots and no white get to show. It's more than 50% white now if I let it go natural. On top of the red, the white looks odd, so it's now an every 5 week visit to the stylist for her magic. Someday - maybe about the 70% white mark, I'll let it all go there and wear it proudly, but not today.

I've actually considered shaving off the beard. It's not that I don't like it.....I've had it for about 8 or 9 years, it's just that when I trim it, there's more white in it than red. And it's developing these large patches of white....like blotches....all around my jawbone and my chin. As a guy, it's not that big of a deal...honestly, you can pull off gray/white hair without a problem (or so I'm told)....but it bothers me. It reminds me that I'm not as young as I used to be. I have these white patches at my temples and mixed in my hair, but you can really see them above my ears as they've gotten bigger over the last couple of years.

My wife tells me that they're sexy.

I tell her I just look old and I don't like it.

I guess, in the end, I won't do much about it. What could I do? I suppose I could color them, but honestly.....my actual hair color, while red, is an unusual version of it.....so bottle colors don't match.....

Eh. Whatever.

13EEE????

Holy smokes......

You must be a real challenge to knock over......:D

Where are you from in Upstate? My father is from Moriah (Port Henry) and I still have family up that way.....my aunt and uncle live not too far from Ticonderoga.....

You should do the Mark Hudson thing. Rainbow. You gotta do what's right for you. I think grey (or white) on a guy is sexy. Especially if he wears it with confidence. But then - I determine whether or not I like people on the basis of their actions and the way they treat me. What they look like is irrelevant - I'd far prefer they just be who they are and not worry about the primping.

I'm pretty smooth on skates.
Nice locations there. I'm from Saratoga, grew up there and got my BS from Skidmore.
Speaking of Ticonderoga... best damn sketch pencil ( number2) ever!!!!! at least from an artistic perspective.

I get back there once in a while. I'll have to make a trip out to mass next time.

Tat, when are you going to buy that sweet roscoe that had you all smiles? or was it that amp that had your pearls showing.

I have such a long list of gear I want....but nothing coming fast. First things first....and here's the plan:

  • Finish the remodel
  • Terrorize Central Florida with FM
  • Rebuild the cab on the 4 x 10 that's in my garage
  • Drive myself insane testing heads until I finally like the one I like
  • Put it on lay-away and enjoy the anticipation
  • Drive myself insane testing cas until I find what I like
  • Put it on layaway and enjoy the anticipation
  • Take on some mystery shops and poker gigs until I've saved up enough have Tom build the Clement we haven't designed yet
  • Take on some more mystery shops and poker gigs until I've saved up enough for the Roscoe
  • Nail my bonus this year and blow the whole thing on a week at Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp
And that's the short list.....

Nah. No rainbow. I'm okay with it....really. I just like to complain because it's what older people do.

It took me a long time to be okay with my red hair. Honestly. I always thought....for a girl, it was okay. Lots of guys talk about how they love "redheads". But you don't often hear about girls who say....."Oooh....a red-haired guy.....I'm all about that....."

It was something I was, to a point, ashamed of growing up. I got the typical taunts and teasing.

I met my wife at a party. I saw this beautiful, stunning, awesome girl....across the room and said to myself, "Wow. I have to meet that girl". It was like a magnet was turned on. Turns out she was related to a girl my friend was dating....so I called in a favor and got her number. She was given a "heads-up" by the relative; "You remember meeting "BayStateBass" (in fact, my REAL name...:D)? He was the guy with the red hair at the party." My wife later told me that the statement meant nothing to her.....she hadn't noticed anything about me other than the fact that I talked to her and made it a point to say hello and ask her if she was having a good time.

Am I going to change what nature has given me? Nope.

Like you, I judge people for who they are. The outward picture means absolutely nothing.

Tat, what kind of 4x10 is it that you are rebuilding? Nice set of priorities btw. Tom will set you up. I played two of his basses before I had ever heard of him. They were very very nice instruments. The two basses I'm waiting on are going to be the only new basses I've owned. The rest have been in good condition, but I'm always looking to sell something or trade to get what I'm looking for. I worked mega deals to get the two I'm waiting on. On second thought, my Status S2 classic 6 was new. I got that from Beaver. Great bass but like BSB, my mitts don't like having controls too close to my strings. Unfortunately, the bass had to go because of it. Same goes for Single cuts. I like how they look, wish I could rock one, but it just won't happen.

Bummer about your k-12 experience Tat. I really get on kids when I see them mistreating each other. I'm one of the few that actually tell them all hello when they come in and ask about their day, weekend, hey cool shoes, wow did you go to that concert, great shot I saw you make in recess, etc. Some are like god you are crazy, but for others it may be what made their day. Makes it worthwhile.

Cab's a Hartke. Most of my gear came from insane deals. I've bought some new, some used, but the only one I didn't dicker on was the Dingwall. Sheldon has rules about that. LOL.

I've been out to see Tom play live at the patch. I got to grope and fondle three of his basses - but they all belonged to other people. Still - I got to grope and fondle them. LOL.

Thanks for the empathy. It was what it was. Their loss really.

+1000 on the Karma meter for you, Mulebagger.

Kids are kids. But I'm willing to guess that having a cool guy like you around means more to them than what you think it does.

Jacked, handsome dude asking about my day, my sneakers, my life......

The world needs more of you.

Man you guys just gave back some great karma. Thanks a ton.
I'm going to crash too.

Excuse the lousy playing, this one is all about the fun:

Sophia and Lucy spinning - YouTube

Sophia is going to be my drummer and my older one Katie is my Pianist. I tried to make the bass look like fun, but they find their own path and I'm just glad to support them however I can.
