Etoncrow, Morgantown was a rather metropolitan oasis nestled in the hills. I only noticed the accents in the children I taught in rural locations. some of the most wonderful kids I've ever had the pleasure to work with.

I understand. It is the more rural and mountainous areas where the population is still most affected by the way their ancestors spoke. I am not trolling; just thought the Chaucerian reference was interesting and should be shared.

Tom, one that I played was a fretless. Wow, talk about playability! It was rather light too. I've been bewitched by the virtues of carbon fiber for the last 12+ years, but if I ever get some extra scratch.... You'll be getting an order from me!

I'm a huge fan of Mr Beck.

I was involved in bringing Stanton Moore (of Galactic) in for another clinic last month. The man is a monster player. Here is a pic of him on my Gretch kit at another clinic last year.

This past time I got to stand backstage during his soundcheck. Wow, just wow. He's a nice guy as well.

Etoncrow, it's all good. I would bet you are correct as the rural population had remained segregated for quite a long time. It was funny to me that the kids always giggled when I spoke being from NY. But, since I'm from upstate I always thought I sounded rather tame compared to a long islander!

Is inner beat drum school a place where you teach or something? My drummer from Agents of Venus is one of the editors at Modern Drummer (Michael Parillo) I can pass along some info to him and maybe get some press for your cause. Lmk if I can make the connection for you.

Inner Beat is a small drum school in my neighborhood. The owner and I are friends. Since I own a ton of gear, he and I have worked together to do some clinics.

So far we've had Stanton twice, Daniel Glass and Hannah Ford.

Here is Daniel on my DWs...

And Hannah on the same Gretsch kit that Stanton played, only in a different configuration.

I'm not sure who we are going to bring in next.

All three of these artists are class acts. I've had a chance to bring in other name drummers, and hesitated because some can be jerks. Stanton, Daniel and Hannah are all great to deal with.

Due to the reclusive nature and anti-authoritarian philosophies of the early settlers and a terrain that inhibits travel West Virginia was the last location on earth where pure Chaucerian English was still spoken. Many of the syntax and proununciation errors attributed to "stupid hill billies" is actually remants of a purer form of English than what we speak today.

I'm well aware of that..after all, I grew up in that part of the world.

I always loved WV when I was on the road and got to go there regularly. Beautiful beautiful place to be and the people were always really nice once you got to know them. In some areas, they were a little guarded, but I grew up in a remote area, so I expected that to some degree.

Not sure where I'd consider my favorite place that I've traveled, though. I'm only missing 3 US states and a handful of provinces in CA. And the non-border states in MX. I found something awesome everywhere, I think, so maybe it's all perspective.

He's supposed to be coming down to install my floor. But I think he's missed his flight...two or three times.


And I just almost offered to come sand wood to help you out building basses for both of us....then I realized how odd it would sound if I suggested that I could come sand wood.

We make the set lists and then usually drop a couple along the way, depending on how the crowd is rolling and how we're feeling, but I like to have them all there if we want to go the whole nine yards. Also, some of them are very short, like Tom Petty's "I Need to Know" - it can't be more than about 2 min. 30 secs.
