So my daughter volunteers at an animal rescue/camp for special needs kids. Today was their open house so I dropped in. There was a small acoustic band playing and whaddayaknow?

I believe it was a Yamaha bass through a small Fender Rumble. Though in that second pic the head stock looks like it says "John Deere"!

I didn't actually get the name of the band. No sign and they played the whole time I was there. They had two people playing percussion. One guy playing a box (like I've seen in pics by our own drummer here) and another Chick who played some handheld percussion pieces. She wasn't using any on this song though.

Finally, I did mention it is an animal rescue. They have all kinds of critters so my daughter took this pic so I could post Bassist with chick!

today I am doing the "spring cleaning" thing.
How did I ever gather up so much worthless junk in my shop? What possible reason could I have for owning an antique outboard boat motor? I do not even have a boat. I have three extra harley transmissions hanging from my rafters. Why do I need three spares? I have an extra dragster engine, and the car has been gone for years...

I did find an old triumph flat track racer, battery eliminator kit, that I had forgotten I had. It converts the positive ground lucas electronics to negative ground, and eliminates the zener diode. I think I am going to run that on the one I am working on, and use a battery, as a redundancy, just for better lights

I am going through stuff, listing it on craigslist, ebay, and making dump runs

That sounds like a fun day. I was doing that in my garage until the rain came. Now I'm going to watch a movie and/or take a nap. Maybe I'll nap while the movie's on.

Gees... I think I should be on the show "Hoarders" .

In my storage shed, there is a Rockwell portable buck saw, and Occidental nail bags, that I bought when doing a rental house remod, ten years ago... I am not a contractor. I do not know why I have kept these things
The saw is showing a little surface rust and corrosion. The bags are the kevlar material, so they still look brand new

Thanks. The gig, for the most part, went ok. It was our first gig together as a band and there were problems to be had (I expected them though).

I brought my amp head and a 210 cab but didn't use them. I used my SansAmp BDDI through the PA and was very happy with the resulting tone. The BL's PA handled the bass niiiiiiicely.

I forgot my freaking battery for my camera so I didn't get any video. Luckily the rhythm guitarist brought his camera, so I will have to wait to get some footage from him. I did, however, get audio. I failed to take wind into consideration and there is a fair amount of wind noise in the recording. :( Es tut mir leid. No matter.

Here is the recording link if you're inclined to take a listen. Headphones or good desktop speakers are recommended.

Finally got this to play (user error on my side) and wow - nice job, DT. So can you fill us in on the drama. Is she coming back for the next rehearsal?

The drummer asked her point blank, "Are you coming back?" and her response was, "We'll talk". I don't know what she was/is expecting. She goes to "School of Rock" and is used to being set up with bands that have some sort of structure..where as we are a bit loose. My drummer said something that I think hits the nail on the head in her regard, "Music is in the heart, not in the head" and in her case, I think it's in her head more than her heart.

If she doesn't come back, so be it. My drummer wants me to sing, so if she doesn't come back, I will make a valiant attempt at doing some singing.

I thank you for the compliment, Tat. My mother-in-law made a comment to my wife that I was the best one up there. I usually don't let stuff like that pump up my ego, but I won't lie and say that it didn't.

It takes guts to do that. If your ego keeps you going back, then feed it. And when you are ready to start putting those little riser boxes out front so you can stand on them.......we call those ego risers. :D

crazy last five days: Thursday and Friday in San Francisco on business; then the red-eye back to Newark to catch a small plane connecting flight to the college town upstate where our youngest was graduating. Had a GREAT time with all three kids and mrs C3 at the graduation. During some of the "down time," made my way over to a vintage guitar store in this town which I know has some amazing basses. (Been there before.) Played this 1953 P bass in mint condition:

hey, they're only asking $12,500 for it, and I think they'll be negotiable. :p
