The DB750 and GS412 carried the amphitheater, The master was just nearing 10 o'clock. I can't leave that head around small children or animals as it might eat them.

His playing has been going steadily downhill and he'd lose his place in tunes he's played for years. We were really concerned for him and rode him to see the doctor and get checked up. He had some facial indications of maybe having had a small stroke.

Well he finally went to see the Doc and after a priority brain scan we've been informed he has a brain tumor and could be in surgery by Monday.

He's incredibly shy and I've never heard him say a bad word about anyone, just one of those nice guy's people like being around and playing some music with. The only family he has left is the guys in our band.

While we're all pulling for him and helping anyway we can, I'd appreciate if our little CWB community could say a prayer/think positive thoughts for a really nice guy by the name of Johnny Goshulak.

Thanks to all. It's reassuring to know that the dreaded and inevitable "sexual invisibility" has not overtaken me yet. (A friend of mine coined this term to refer to the fact that as you get older, fewer and fewer people relate to you as a sexual being - then one day, you realize that no one but your spouse does anymore. Nice of him to point this out to me and instill complete panic.)

Wow, that was a depressing way for me to say "thanks" - LOL. I gotta learn to take a compliment more gracefully! :)

Same is true for straight up jazz - I love playing it, but the market for it gig-wise in the Hudson Valley is very small.

I was a FB holdout myself for a long time (up until this past spring), mostly because I could care less what my friends were eating for dinner or what they bought today at Target. I finally caved to the pressure because my hubz knew more about my friends and family than I did simply because he was on FB. He remembered their birthdays more often than I did, knew about events in their lives before I did and shared funny comments they had made. I finally just felt like I was missing out on too much.

Yes, you have to wade through the inane, dramatic, boring, and incendiary - but I find it to be worth it in the end. Great way to share pics and info. with people far away. Lots of great humor there to make you smile, especially if you "friend" Tat and FM! Plus you can "ignore" people who are driving you crazy (say, with never-ending political rants) so you don't even see their posts.

Musically, it really helps me stay connected as well. My current band saw me at a Sonic Cherry gig a long time ago. When they were looking for a bass player,they asked around about my name, and found me through facebook. If it weren't for FB, they probably never would have been able to contact me. I have been using it a lot to comminicate with singers also during the search and audition process my band is currently undergoing.

It's a tool - like anything, all in how you use it.

Although he and i are friends so that i can see what he posts but i do go look at his friends pages and make sure what they post that he can see is ok too. I do block him from some of my posts, and he is not to friend my work identity page or daddy's page and i have it set up so he can't see my comments to friends or the ticker.

The Teenager did myspace when he was that age, i saw no issues at all and when he made a facebook page a few years later i saw no reason to keep tabs on him. He's 18.5 now so it's not my business what he does anyway.

I use FB to actually feel like i have friends and stay close to people, i dont really have friends IRL and i find it really hard to make friends because most people won't take the time to see past my oddness and awkwardness to see who i really am. Right now, i don't actually have any friends who live here and i can just hang out and have a beer and BS with that aren't in my band (and i don't really hang with them too much beyond band stuff).

Besides, i like FB because i can hide behind the awkwardness and just be weird.

I find that female friendships are notoriously challenging and complicated. Tat and FM from this thread have become two of my closest female friends. Honestly, if I had a problem, I wouldn't hesitate to call either one of them - I would definitely turn to one of them quicker than I would a lot of my other female "friends" who live closer. Truth is, I have very little in common with most of the soccer moms I find myself surrounded by.

In general, I think it's harder to make friends as an adult, especially for those of us that tend to be a little introverted or eccentic.

But rest assured, you are among friends here. :)

Thanks for the soundtrack to my CWB reading. :) As always, good choices. And not that I minded listening to it twice, but you repeated that last Jefferson Airplane link.

Now all I need is someone other than a snoring grizzly or a squirmy kid (she often finds her way in at night) to snuggle and doze out with, LOL.

It's no wonder I wake up in the middle of the night a lot...

237 years ago, in a tiny bar in Philadelphia known as Tun Tavern, the Continental Congress authorized the formation of two battalions of marines, thus giving birth to the United States Marine Corps.

I don't know if there are any other Marines on CWB, but I would like to wish all my brothers and sisters who have earned the title a happy birthday.

Your friend is misguided PA. This is not an inevitability. Maybe as you get older some of the younger people don't overtly relate to you us a sexual being but be assured that this condition does not exist here at CWB. We'll drool forever! :hyper:

DT, happy Marine Bday. I wasn't in the service but I appreciate and respect the contribution our service members make on our behalf. Sounds like you should fire off 237 rounds. I would if the range was open :)

J, I share your sentiments. This a great collection of people that are genuinely wonderful. It's the only reason I come to this site anymore. :)
