CWB: 23 TBD

I did get to supply my DWs as part of the backline for a "Blues Society of Western Pennsylvania" gig on Sunday.

I gave them a test run.

Love them DW's !

I saw that on facespace earlier..very cool, Mike.

I must be suffering from PTSD to some degree..Sunday night I went to bed and felt fine..but had nightmares about my time in Somalia. I woke up with my left arm racked with pain and in a very dour mood. I talked to my wife quite a bit yesterday while at work, and that helped me to get through the day. My arm still hurts a bit today, but at least my mood is much more positive than it was yesterday.

I don't have those nightmares that often, thankfully.

Dang DT, I would not wish that on that on anyone. Hoping that talking it through with your wife or anyone else is the therapy that makes a difference for you brother.

Thanks guys.

BG, talking about it openly does help me quite a bit.

I wish my hubby would talk about it, to anyone. I know why he won't talk about it with me, but it still makes me feel a bit left out. And i know talking with someone would help, he does talk to his counselor a little, but will admit that he doesn't tell him everything.

JaaMe - I feel bad that he won't talk to you about it..but I am glad that you understand the 'why'. It's pretty difficult to talk about, and it's hard to find someone that can relate. I recently broke that last barrier and just decided to vocalize my experiences while over there to anyone who is willing to listen. I struggle with it, but I do feel better after talking about it.

I hope he finds peace within his own mind. The battle might be over, but it keeps replaying the mind of a warrior.

Got the suggested set list for the Live at the Levee show last night at practice. Two nine song sets. I am playing drums and singing on five songs in the first set; singing and playing congas on some of the rest. Disappointed not to be playing any banjo or bass but it is what it is. The only leverage I have is to walk away from it and I do not want to disappoint those of you who might be coming down. The reasons why I left this band in 1979 are becoming more and more evident again. One good thing is that I will be playing drums and singing on my three favorite songs.

It would be great to get together with as many as can come to Charleston. The nature of these shows means they are finished before 10:00pm so we will have plenty of time to mingle at a bar. Depending on how many of us show I may direct us to an alternative location away from the "picker" reunion gathering so CWB remains our "theme".

I am sorry you are suffering Aaron. You really need to search deep within yourself, transcend and resolve this trauma or it could affect you way past this life. You need to leave as much baggage here when you leave as you can. I know it is so easy to say and so very difficult to actualize but it is also doable.

I'm still probably attending, backed down a bit from 'definitely.'
Joy started a new job earlier this month and will be almost but not quite past her official 90-day 'probationary' period. I think the concept of a 'probationary period' is silly in a management role, and I think it wouldn't be a problem if she asked for the day, but I respect why she won't.

So I expect it'll just be me on August 23. I'll drive down Friday morning for the festivities and if I'm on my own, head back home Saturday.

Aaron, I'm sorry to hear of what you are dealing with. You have my ear anytime that you need to.

So... August 23rd is the day of the show? I'm ready to book a room, but I'm likely only going to be able to commit to one day between getting someone to take care of our dogs and concerns about Jackie's parents. Jackie wants to make it to this as well. If the 23rd is going to be the day of the show and the local party night I'll book a room now.

Should I shoot for the Ramada?

We are booked at the Hampton at 1 Virginia Street West, Charleston, WV 25302-2357. That seems to be fairly close.

The Hampton is like a stone's throw off the interstate. From there Mike, you walk a few blocks down to the Kanawha River and the six blocks east to the amphitheater. There is a pedestrian walk-way along the river.
