wow ... this is the CWB GTG in West Virginia this summer? Is this actually happening?

because I just want to call dibs on PA's mom. Not sure why, but I dimly remember from earlier posts that she seems very cool.

And I'm sure I can't handle her daughter. :bassist:

I can't speak for anyone else, but I will definitely be there. :hyper:

Chuck, I'm sure you will like my mom, but I can't guarantee 100 percent that she will make it to the show. She has lupus, and it's unpredictable as to how she might be feeling on any given day. She is very eager to hear Crow's band, though, so I give it a pretty high probability that she will be there with me.

As for whether or not you can handle her daughter, all I can say is that I'm easy enough to please but hard to keep satisfied. :D

Sounds great, gonna try for it. Main determinant will be seeing how I feel after some surgery I've got to have in late July. Would really like to hear your band (and meet everyone, of course).

OK Cool -- followed the links, read the FAQs, still got some questions that I am asking early so as to avoid a need for urgency later. I know you're not the Visitor's Bureau but you're way more local than me...

I struck out on my B&B search. It looks from the event map that the Ramada is right across the river (walking distance?) from the venue. Is that going to be 'Party Central' or somewhere else?

I saw no mention of tickets. Is this a FCFS event? Is it a free event? I got the 'festival seating' part - I think we can scrounge up some low beach chairs. Looks like we can bring in food and drink (but not in glass). No mention of alcohol...

Naturally we'd want to get the optimal 'Picker' experience during our trip - you mentioned a Saturday show at a church. Is that something we should plan to attend? (And stay over Saturday night as a result?) Is there a capacity limit on that? A donation (or outright ticket price)?

Thanks in advance! We've enjoyed the WV scenery on our way to other places, looking forwad to it being a destination this time...

Well, see, I made my life commitment about 12 years ago and I'm comfortable with that.

I believe Ms Monkey spells her username with 2 'r's but that may be a distinction without a difference...

I have met one of the Three Thumpketeers, and I'm hoping to increase the tally by one in WV in August. But the meeting is sufficient - I'm content.

I'm hoping you know the playfulness is all in fun. I'm faithfully married, so you are safe from any deviousness on my part. Plus, I'll be on my best behavior with my mom there. :)

The Saturday Church Performance (about 30 miles west off I-64): St. Tim's let us practice in the church back in the early days and are letting us use the sanctuary for rehearsal the week of the concert; in repayment we are playing a combination 50th anniversary of the church / foodbank benefit at the church 7:00 Saturday, August 24th, 2013. It will be an air-conditioned more intmate setting.

I am going to do everything that I can to be at this event.

Two and a half weeks ago Jackie's dad landed in the hospital. He got out the day I left on my Florida trip. Jackie's mom landed in the hospital the day that I got back. Jackie's brother and his family flew in (for a scheduled visit) the day after I returned. Jackie's mom got out of the hospital and I ended up in there next. Now I'm out and recovering, but Jackie's mom is back in.

So...

Things have been way too crazy to commit to anything.

Tat and I have gotten to hang out together four times. Jackie and I got to meet "the fury one" once on one of our Chicago trips. I'm hoping to meet PA in August as well as others at this gig.

I miss this whole crazy group.

I saw that on facespace earlier..very cool, Mike.

I must be suffering from PTSD to some degree..Sunday night I went to bed and felt fine..but had nightmares about my time in Somalia. I woke up with my left arm racked with pain and in a very dour mood. I talked to my wife quite a bit yesterday while at work, and that helped me to get through the day. My arm still hurts a bit today, but at least my mood is much more positive than it was yesterday.

I don't have those nightmares that often, thankfully.
