CWB: Catch 22

Well now..I think I have figured out why the first LMIII went kaput.

I have two speaker cables..one that I fabricated and one that I bought. The one that I bought, while connected to the cabinet, shows 3.5 ohms on my DVOM. The fabricated cable shows 6 ohms. I think the impedance was dropping below what the head could handle with the store bought cable.

Edit: I realize the cab could be at fault as well. The resistance rating in the fabricated cable could keep the impedance at safe levels (hopefully).

Sneak peek at the beast...lol. That's a great intro ;)

That sounds like "all kinds of hot"...

Very cool

Thanks Basswave
btw, I checked out some Revsound videos. Nice playing you did there. It's pretty hard to tell the sonic footprint of the cab with the with the sound quality of the video. All things being equal, I had a nice bite different than the Berg.

Will Revsound offer a 2x12 in the future? Like that VJ as well. I was going to ask you what modulus basses you had.

You guys have fun at boot camp. I'll check back in tomorrow.

Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous!!!!

Looks amazing on you Tat!!!

I'm digging that strap too. Nice work all around. I saw you and Mike in the front row of a post on Manring's site. Way to get to the head of the class :)

Thanks! So many compliments on her so far. She's amazing. I brought her out tonight to one of the night owl classes and there was a giant OOOOOOOOO moment when I hit that low B and the glass tubes on the chandelier started to sway. WP Factor > 250 and rising.

Whoa...This is strange I saw most of you people and did not put 2+2 together. See you in the morning.

You should have just come to say hi. I've never bitten anyone who didn't request it. You'd have been safe. Really. :D

Thanks Basswave

The new cabs are little closer to the Berg, in the upper register.

Revsound is working on 12" driver right now but rejected the first 2 that came out. It will happen, but might be a while. It takes a lot of time for Celestion to build up a prototype.

I used to play Q5s, VJs and FU/Fleas but now I just play a couple of VJs and Flea. I really loved the Q5s and they where my mains for years, but I have pulled back into single coil realm.

Thank you for the note on my playing...I kind of wish Mark never put that up there...LOL

Singles are one of the reasons I walked from my Q6. The other reason was the 17mm spacing. I think if modulus put out a FU 19mm they would have a runaway success. My VJ is my all time favorite 4 string. I'm thinking sometime over the summer to put in a set of Aguilar hot singles and a Jretro. I like the Bart's but those singles sounded amazing at the Aguilar booth at NAMM.

here's basswave at the Revsound booth. The Rev 410 sounds awesome (of course, it helps that basswave plays great). After talking with David Luke, I am also thinking about a 210/110 stack that might make a lot of sense for me. Either way, great cabs and people.
