I just might do that. I have taken this bass this far, why not go all the way. Any advice on what kind of solder to use for pots?

Pretty much any electrical solder will do. Don't get plumbing solder...Also, watch the lead content, I'll use it, but try not to breathe in fumes and wash my hands immediately after handling it.

I'm saying a 40 watt iron cause if you are soldering to the pots shell (like with a cap) it simply works better. A 40 watter will get you in and out pretty quick w/o over-heating the pot. Low watts seem harder to get the shell to a good temp, but easy to over-heat the inside. The butane irons work really well for me too, and I like not having a cord to fight with or worry about. Use the solder sucker for cleaning up any gobs of solder you are likely to have since this is your first go at it.
