Damnation Audio Fan/Appreciation Thread

Curiosity has the best of me... What's the grey 4-knob pedal with no switch?

5sg.

It's a tube preamp that's a faithful clone of the second channel of a 72 SVT. A local guy built it for me. Three tubes, baxandall EQ, gain and master volume. It's ended my preamp search, and is saving me from buying a heavy tube amp...lol. If anyone is interested I can put you in touch with him on instagram, he builds lots of cool tube circuits in pedal form. Him and I nerded over this design and I love how it turned out!!

Please PM me!! haha I'm a broke sob but I'd like to have the contact :D

Oh hell yeah man! Can't wait to hear what you think! please let us know what you think about it!

I feel like I'm late to the show but... damn! This pedal is amazing! I couldn't get a bad sound out of it. It has so much tone capability with just the tone and the depth knobs that simply blew my mind.
It's exactly the kind of drive that I love and I still have to try it with my amp and full setup.
I only had the chance to try through my HX Stomp using the B15 model+cab. And I loved every sound I got from it.
My wife had to drag me to dinner. Lol!
I feel like this ended my OD search. I can't think of something better.
Well done, Damnation Audio! Well done!

I knew you’d like it!!! Like, as much as you’re saying. It is a pretty amazing pedal. It sounds grand through tubes and SS heads alike but I love it through tubes. So I can imagine going through the B15 model it was awesome. I know it ended my OD search. And you know how I was with OD for a long time. I haven’t given many OD’s a second thought in a long time.

More boards more boards!!!
So... a Blooped ODB has replaced my MBD-1. I love the MBD, but the ODB just has more flavor/less transparency to my ears and with the Bloop in the mix, the ODB works better for what I hear in my dirty playing. I also run the Bluebeard through the Bloop and it has slayed my Wizard Fuzz. So, the Bloop has caused me to profoundly change how I make my core doom metal tone.

Yeah I had a tough call when I was using the ODB for my main OD. I loved that pedal. But after A/B’ing them in my bands mix, the MBD just killed it. For me and my tastes. It’s def more trans. I noticed that sometimes I want a more flavored OD, I just pop an OCD or whatever in the mix on the HX and I’m good to go.

Matt, what MBD do you have? It's not a special edition, by chance, is it? If so want to sell it? I missed the last two in the classifieds (both SE). I want another SE to go with my gray one. Also, yes ODB is awesome. My fav Dunwich pedal.

Edit: Make that 3 SEs missed in two weeks. Just saw you sold yours. You guys are killing me here! Y'all need to do like they do in the Broughton thread and let the homies know when you're gonna sell.

I'm on the fence with getting one, let me know how it goes!!
The Bloop is a game changer. Most any pedal you thought would not work on bass, now works on bass. It even adds a little "magic" when nothing else in the loop is engaged. It seems to be more than the sum of its parts.

Dare I say it, but it's almost like it gives your signal what a fat tube amp will provide in that it adds some heft, bloom and low end. No dist or drive whatsoever mind you. I'm not talking about it adding harmonics or dist, just that extra low end with a little added character and warmth.

To me, that's what makes the MBD shine so much (aside from it's dirt character. Love that tone), the filtering and blending. That clean blend he's put in these pedals is simply awesome. I've said it before, but I think ever bassist should have some kind of blend like this on their board. It adds so much goodness to a basses signal chain IMO.

Well I’m gonna say it, the para drive is the best bass rat I’ve played. I still love my rat tail and blower box. But the para drive nudges them out on punch and low end response. I still wish it had just a little more EQ control, but overall, it’s friggen awesome. I was just A/B’ing the rat tail and the para this morning. Both through the bloop. And while I love my rat tail, the para drive just nudges it out. It’s got that added punch and clarity while still keeping that sweet, ratty dist that’s sorta saggy and raw. Both sides compliment each other so well. Really great match.

I wish I hadn't missed out on the Parallel Drive when it was available. I've never quite found a rat I liked on bass but I love that sound, and I bet the clean boost/blend would be exactly what is needed to make it work. That would be the perfect compliment to my MBD-1.

edit: found one thanks to @Maxfenderbass. Really looking forward to it!
