Well @BklynKen in regards to your statement about Decades of players before. I get what you're saying, but think of it along these lines: cars didn't have seatbelts for decades. Didn't mean they were any safer back then.

Pretty psyched! Ordered my MBD-2 on Friday figuring it would take a few weeks to get it and just saw my notification of shipment on Saturday. As luck would have it, my amp’s in the shop getting repaired so I may have to go over to a friend’s to try out the pedal before I get it back.

My 2 cents for the HPF and Compressor pedals is this.....
I use a compressor as a limiter. Not because I have Uber bad technique but when I get into the song live I tend to feel what’s around and start digging in a little more which in turn blows the mix. A little assurance that when I get a little more free with my right hand helps so I can feel and not think. Same thing for a HPF some rooms just make even the best amp and cab sound like mud, it cleans up the bottom end and also allows you to turn up the bass frequencies without putting additional stress in your cabs. Do I need either of them... nope. However having the tools at my disposal to make things work and maybe save the mix or my gear is piece of mind.

I think this is a false assumption. One of the many things that stand out in my memories of all the rock shows I went to in the 70s, 80s, 90s, and to a lesser extent, to today, is that the live bass sound was far too often a muddled, undefined, festival of poop.
Not to mention the technology used at the board.

Already a massive Bloop fan and just ordered an MBD-2 from Jeff... can't wait to try it out!
I practice at home a lot with some old Sony cans on and experience my pedals that way most of the time. It's hard to tell what exactly a pedal will do when until you hear it live. Just wanted to say that the MBD2 is the one pedal that when I'm playing in front of an amp just blows me away every time I step on it. The way it punches through the mix is just different than the other pedals I've had. It can bring some serious beef without disappearing.
I still have my Damnation search in my Reverb feed and keep getting tempted to get a MBD1 just because. Am I crazy?

YouTubed quite a few demos before ordering, and could be user error, but Microtubes X just wasn’t doing it for me. So ordered an MBD2. Psyched. fingers crossed.

Very different beasts. The MBD is more versatile and allows for more transparency. I like the X7 a lot, but I get more regular use out of the MBD.

Well I too am running a hxstomp, and a mdb-1, tuner, compressor. That’s my version of downsizing.

Finally got to give a new MBD-2 a good test drive.
It lives up to the hype and then some!
Found a great low gain OD type, and some nice distortion settings.
As others have mentioned, it blends with and enhances other drive pedals really well.
