I'm currently running into a One Control Crimson Red Bass Preamp > Mesa Subway + (with BF-2 Flanger in the Effects Loop) > Power Amp (typically either the effects return on my MarkBass Nano Mark or my AG-500 112 combo). I adore the CRB - it is my instant reggae sound which works for a lot of my main band's songs, but it is a one-trick pony, and I have toyed with the idea using the Bloop to cut out the highs with a stomp, but also to connect a secondary board (Fuzz/Delay) to a guitar amp as well. Either way, the utility is a nice thing to have on tap.

Fantastic. I'm generally known for my deep/fat tone, but I think it would kill to divide the signal into "Dub" (from the Bloop Out) and "Destruction" (from the Bloop Send). I won't need to bi-amp all the time, so have a Low-Pass Stomp switch that can double as a splitter for my auxiliary effects is what I need.

It's so cool! It's almost like it "tube-i-fy's" your sound. It's not a substitute for a tube amp and it's not like a preamp or anything. But it adds this presence and heft, a nice fat warmth, that reminds me of a tube amp in a way. Pair it with a tube head (like I do for instance) and bump the treble and high mids a bit and you've got one killer tone! Add the dirt in the loop and stand back!

It just adds more beef to it. I really didn't notice a huge difference honestly. I normally run anything that is really good with low end, like the MBD, or stuff like Xover dist's like the DG X7 out of the Bloop's loop. So I really only use it for pedals that may need a little help on that dept. But for the most part, I pretty use the Bloop as a sweetener and added body and depth to my overall signal. It also helps other pedals like the Fuzzro Rat Tail and stuff like that that don't have dedicated blends or are lacking slightly in the low end dept.

New compact board(s)...same “old” MBD-1!

Had both the 1 and 2, (still checking my real estate sanity) but I actually prefer the big pedal, so let the 2 go. The 1 sounds so comfortably good to me—like a trusted, old overdrive friend!

Found this Emerson pb (7” x 18”) perfect depth for the MBD-1! Yea, I went looking for a pb to build around my pedal, lol!

I'm back in the Damnation fold! Got my MBD2 a bit ago and it's pretty amazing. I had an MBD-1, and I just didn't get on with it. I really don't know what to think, because isn't it the same circuit? I got this MBD2, plugged it into my board, and haven't turned it off since. It giving my rig the exact amount of heaviness and warmth that I was looking for. It's fantastic!

Now, I'm curious if there's any benefit to adding a Bloop to my board, since I've got a row of it running through the front of my amp, and a row of it running through my amp's fx loop??

Can’t go wrong with the Bloop imo. In any situation of board.

Got my Mammoth Tamer Bloop today, it's my first step into the Damnation Audio rabbit hole :roflmao: This thing KILLS. I definitely notice a difference in tone. It cleans up all the muddiness in my signal at the cw end of the dial, but I'm able to bring some of that undefined low end back in to shake my whole room while still having enough clarity to discern faster & more complex runs. The extra bottom end it gives to thinner sounding pedals is also nothing short of tremendous, but still never a hint of muddiness! I'm very surprised and excited for my future using the Bloop as a utility, it even sounds great just by itself!

I'm still kinda misty about not getting an ugly twin when I had the chance though LOL

What do you think of the differences between the two? I went with the MT mainly for the different low pass shelving but also because I want to have the ability to run pedals that may not be buffer-friendly in the future.

I like the new one. The unbuffered loop is great. The low end on V1 has a touch more clarity I think. The MT perhaps has a touch more wool. I found that out when I tried it engaged without a pedal on in the loop.

The new one works better for my needs but my perfect Bloop would be V1 with an unbuffered loop.

Wanted to share my experience with MBD-1 vs. MBD-2. I loved the -1 but was thrilled for the smaller footprint on the -2, so I picked up a -2 and *almost* sold the -1. (Actually listed it for a hot minute.)

I played the -2 for a couple of months, noting that it didn't quite sound like my -1. Still, it sounds awesome as expected. The MBD-2 is an absolutely killer pedal.

Just today I pulled out the -1 and did some A/B comparisons. I can almost match "that sweet sound" on my -1 with the -2 but I need to crank the -2 gain almost full CW; gain setting on the -1 is at 2 o'clock. Most other controls about the same.

Wondering if the internal trimpot on the -1 is set differently than the -2. I haven't touched the -1 trimpot...read a lot about it here on DAFA thread but the -1 factory setting always worked well with my bass (Dunable Thunderclapper / Baphomet pickups).

The 20dB boost on the -2 sounds glorious but, for my needs, maybe too much of a good thing. And I don't need two essentially identical pedals...really trying to reduce drive pedals. Really.

So I just sold the -2 and I'm proud to place the MBD-1 on my board permanently. That TARNED device is Good Enough.
