Can someone who owns both the MBD 2 and MBD 3, provide insight why the latter is better (if its better). And if its suited better for heavier music with the countoured blend and all? Would appreciate it

I could probably go either way on the MBD3 and contour, but if I had to choose I lean more towards the MBD-1 or 2, especially for busy riff-y styles. The MBD2 gets a little meaner and the old low passed blend is slightly more punchy or tighter, feels quicker vs the contour's smoothness and heft. Its also nice to have the mid-shift when I need it for my Warwick Thumb. ..But imo, aside from the tweaked blend, there’s not a drastic difference in the mix. So for me, the options would mainly come down to use case and if I wanted the variable boost for live use.

I love the MBD-2 and I've found excellent sounds with both shift settings. 300 Hz setting (missing from the third version) can really give you a tight sound, perfect for busy cut-through lines. I loved it with my Stingray. I used the 600 Hz setting with my Precision with flats last night and it killed. I don't need the boost option so I find the MBD-2 to be the perfect overdrive for my needs.

Pretty much exactly my take as well. If I need a boost, I prefer to have one boost in front of ALL of my dirt instead of an integrated boost. But I'm glad everyone else enjoys the new pedal!

Noon would be neutral. CW will boost treble and cut bass. CCW will boost bass and cut treble. You got it.

Jive is really cool as a boost before other pedals. I tried using it last in line as a preamp, it was actually really nice! A tad too much on the warm side for me though

I do! (Enjoy the New pedal)

The boost switch is perfect for my needs: it changes the timbre of the dirt without significant volume change leaving lows completely unaffected…

I would need three pedals to achieve that otherwise… (dirt, crossover looper and booster)

It is not independent and can only be used with the distortion.

Currently I'm using an old Pork Loin or Dunwich ODB for that. Gives plenty more dirt, a touch more volume, and sacrifices no lows or other parts of my tone. And I also use those pedals individually for my "low gain" dirt tones. Love them!
