Fuzz Enforcer showed up yesterday and this thing fuZZing rips! It sits right at home in a synth chain or for melting faces. Sounds just lovely driving an MBD as well.

I just bought this unit from local classified, labeled as "Alembic F2b preamp", so I wanted to give it a try it as those almost never comes up on the used market here (Fr). The seller confirmed it was a official sushibox kit (Particle Accelerator) ordered at Musikding, it looks legit, can someone confirm ? I forgot to ask about the voltage, but Elementary or Finally are said to run at 9-12v, 400mA minimum, is it the same for this unit ? Thanks a lot

Hi folks. I've really been liking the MBD-3 and now I want more (of course). Sort of torn on the Fuzz Enforcer vs the Spite Box. I have a few octave fuzzes already (Lizard King, a handful of superfuzzes including a Dungeon Master, most of which don't work well on bass) and a few Muff Pi derivatives (Red Army Overdrive, EQD Chelsea, Walrus Eons) - other than the Lizard King these all require some clean blend for what I want (even the Chelsea). Obviously the correct answer is buy both and an Amp Grinder so they don't feel lonely, but can anyone give me the dirt on how different these sound? Or, at least what sort of era muff the Enforcer happens to be most like? (Since some of you have one already!)
I don't know what era muff the FE is based off of.
All I know, is that the FE is my favorite muff derivative for bass.
The Fuzz Enforcer is not a clone of any specific era of muff. It has a lot of tweaks throughout and wasn't designed as a this or that specific muff version. A lot of the meaningful differences between muff versions come down to tone stack differences and the Fuzz Enforcer has two tone stack voicings that cover a bunch of range depending on control settings.
The Spite Box is a much more extreme fuzz than the Fuzz Enforcer in every way. It avoids needing a clean blend by having a massive controllable bass boost on the end of the circuit so you get the high harmonics and treble sizzle from the octave and the crushing low end from the bass boost. I would say if you're more of a controlled softer fuzz fan then the Fuzz Enforcer is a better option. If you want to crush the entire mix when you hit the fuzz then the Spite is your answer.
Play a passive bass, keep the spite/octave control fully CCW, and roll the volume back a bit on the bass. It mellows out a bit.
