I'm not sure how much low end the Bloop adds but I see some real opportunity here. What about doing the same thing to say, a Mesa Dual Rectifier guitar amp? Could the Bloop,in theory,turn any amp into a Bass amp?

Run entire amp preamps and their respective od circuits through the Bloop!?

Potentially except that the power stage could be optimized for guitar only. Not enough low end or watts.

Also the amps will be running at line level and not instrument level so there may be headroom issues.

But if this is a thing people like and a few tweaks will make it work then it's worth investigating.

Got a little taste of the Bloop today. Still kinda recovering from a sinus infection. I just snagged this cab in a trade. So I hooked it up and ran the Bloop in a loop with the Centurion. Sounded absolutely massive and the 18 held up without farting out. Dig it. Can’t wait to get my main board re-wired and tested out on the main rig.

I saw Canada on his avatar but I'm definitely unaware of outside the states. Makes perfect sense from things I have read on TB though. Hopefully my comment comes across from a US prospective since that's what I was trying to imply. I completely understand the exchange rate piece since I was looking for Barefaced cabs and got lucky finding some lightly used ones on TB without actually waiting forever for them to pop up.

Maybe I'm dense, but I'm not sure I quite understand the Bloop. You give it a clean signal, which it sends through the loop and then blends with a lowpassed version of the clean signal, is that correct? So then all frequencies of the clean signal are processed, but then additional clean lows are blended in...?

Is this better in some way than a crossover method (which I guess would add a highpass to the send signal)?

I do believe that is a really good description of how it handles your signal. It's like, I have my rat tail and or green Russian reissue in the loop and it is blended with my clean signal but then the rest of my chain is going through the send and return. Its treating my whole signal as well as the GR but it's blending the GR. It's just giving the rest of my signal kinda what the clean blend does on my MBD. I probably just confused you even more didn't I?!

I'd be most interested in how it sounds with chorus/phaser, because they generally mess with the lows in a way I don't like. Short answer: This is how the original customer requested it.

Medium answer: He requested it this way because he didn't like the sound of a high pass on his effected signal.

Medium Long answer: He wanted clean signal added to a full range distorted signal because he loved his distortion sound but wanted more low end clarity.

Medium Long answer 2. He was used to using dual rigs one full range and one low passed.

Long answer: Crossovers have their place and for those that want that functionality there are some good options. But parallel signal processing is not simple math. Low passed signal plus high passed signal do not equal full range signal. There is always distortion at the crossover point (not cool distortion but frequency distortion and degrading of signal quality). So I've learned that a single frequency does not make for the best split. Some signal sound great high passed at 200Hz but that doesn't mean a low passed signal at the same 200Hz is the sound that you want.

But besides all that this pedal serves a very specific niche. Those that like the effected signal but wish there was more clean lows. It's not a cure for a crappy signal.

Well I LOVE it. I’m def in that niche. Didn’t even know I wanted to be in that niche but I’m glad I found it!!!!

Well, now I know what a lot of you people talk about, the MBD-1 is a monster! I have just played around with it a bit but I’m totally in love with the low gain sound I’m getting. And I get why some would want two of these to get a high gain too, even though it’s a pretty big box! I’m really looking forward to spend some more time with it.

I got another new pedal too, the Blower Box. Really nice as well and could fit the bill for a high gain sound.

I know, it’s a messy shelf but it’s only for try out.

A lot of people like it for the lower gain and stacking ability but I love it for the higher gain and it’s now the only dirt I am using on my board. A little odd to say considering in the summer I had 5, but it seems to be the only thing that has the sound in my head since I got mine back in March.

That’s funny. I used to like having a lot of dirt pedals on my board. I was up to 9 between 2 boards just a little over a year ago. But that all changed after I got the MBD. I am now down to 2 for sure. Possibly 3 at times. The MBD, the DG X7 and whatever else I want in the one rotating spot on my board. With those 2 pedals alone I can just about get any dirt sound I want short of saturated fuzz. It’s so nice not to have a brief panic attack when I look down to stomp a dirt box at any given time.

Hey does anyone happen to know the exact oxblood knobs that @father of fires uses on the MBD?? I think I know but the pics I’m finding on like small bear look different than the ones uses. And where I can order them from.

I want to grab 5 for my MBD.
