Interesting! The replacement sounds fine to me, but would like to hear what you think when they’re A/B’d.
I used the Pro bridge on my resurrected 60s Silvertone 1444 and I agree, it works very well. I have the "popsicle" stick saddle on another 1444 and it works but intonation adjustment is not nearly as easy as with the Pro.
I've compared the two 1444s with my favorite nylon tapewound strings installed and I don't notice any real difference in tone.

Speaking of strings. What gauge did you go with?
I’m Labella DTF .52-.110 on my SG bass and just placed an order for DTF .45-.105 for the DC.

Samick did a "reissue" of the Silvertone guitar version of this. It was close, but I'm with you on doing it as close to authentic as makes sense.

A quick question:
With not being a big fan of stacked controls (I like a quick roll of a volume knob off in between songs during a set/session). I’m thinking about re-wiring it for a master volume and master tone with the standard three-way switch.
I know the volume pot value is 1meg, but can I use a 250k pot for the tone control? If so what value cap should I run?

You know, I'm not either, but danged if I don't like the different combinations of tones you get with the stacked controls. My favorite is using both pickups on with the treble rolled off the bridge pickup all the way. To me it sounds like the neck pickup by itself with a volume boost. But I also like the twangy sounds you get with both pickups and full treble or even the neck pickup by itself, which is a big rarity for me to like a neck pickup by itself. But it's cool when you want to do those tic-tac sounds.
I just saw this - a double-neck with a baritone/bassVI instead of a 4 string bass.
Those are good points. I’ll have to see how I get along with the stock controls at first.
Also how does these sound with DTF?
I wired the Dano Pro bass I built with Tele-type controls, plus a second switch to switch between 3 different capacitors. I'm thinking of redoing it with stacked 2v/2t.
The Tele V/T/4-way+cap switch does give me lots of options, but I tend to do both pickups on/volume and tone at 100% most of the time anyway, set and forget. I'm thinking about other things when I'm playing. As long as I know everyone can hear the bass, I'm more concerned with playing when I'm playing.

Oh, OK...ya, I had them on there for a while. They were pretty excellent, but I once did a shootout with them and Dunlops and the Dunlops ended up winning for me. I still have the LaBellas on my violin basses because they sounded better than the Dunlops on them, but for some reason I liked the Dunlops just a little better. I think they had a little stronger midrange, which I thought that bass could benefit from.
Cool! I just ordered a set of Labella’s, Dunlop in 45-105 and Pyramids in 40-100.
I’ve been looking for a bass that’s more versatile and easier on sound guys than my Gibson SG (where I only use the neck pup -ripped out the bridge pup) that’s strung with Labella DTF 52-110.
P.S. the SG has so much low end and not much else.
