NBD! Well I did it. I found the tape in case it’s needed and pulled the trigger. Can I join the club?
My Longhorn arrived today and a couple things seem odd. The two strap buttons are different and the one at the butt end is unlike anything I’ve seen (see photos). Is either one original? If not, what do originals look like?
Even more perplexing is a screw placed under the leading edge of the bridge. I couldn’t figure this out still I stumbled onto a comment in a thread from about two years ago that suggests these bridges have a droop and a DIY workaround is to put a support screw underneath to prop it up? Seriously?? Is that what this is??

Heheh, I started by stacking pennies under mine. I got an Allparts brass replacement for it back when they were selling them, though.Yes, I expect the screw is there to support the bridge as those can sag under pressure. I’ve seen a nickel used, though yours might require ten cents.
Yeah I noticed that right away. Since there’s no steel neck plate I’m surprised they aren’t mounted there instead.

You can put a strap button on the end of the upper bout, there's plenty of solid wood there to put a screw into and the weight isn't enough to stress anything plus it just hangs better. Love that color too. Here's mine from the original '98 run of Korean reissues.
My Jerry Jones longhorn came with the strap button on the upper turn. It's solid and secure.
I'd mount buttons on there on my my DC bass and my Chinese Dano longhorn, but I didn't play them a lot.
How do you determine if it's from the original run? This one was advertised as a 90's reissue. How would I learn more?
I'd like to replace the heel strap button that is non original. Are the originals a screw in type or are they the long plastic solid (screwless?) end pin type?
I was under the impression that the first runs had a plain headstock (not color matched) and the back of the tuner had the "D" logo. That is what my short horn looks like.
All the '90s Danelectros I've seen have press-in plastic strap pins. If yours has a conventional screw-in pin, it's probably a replacement. Does that help?
Yes it does. My neck strap button is original and it is the press in pin. My heel button is not original but would appear to be same. How does one remove and replace these?
You'd just yank then out (carefully). It's possible they're glued in. The original pin itself is probably tapered. The replacement one may be tapered also, or it's possible it's different.
The bottom one on my DC bass was loose in its hole. I didn't have any glue handy, so I shimmed it with a little bit of paper and tapped it back in. I meant it to be a temporary fix until I got home, but it's held that way for 5 years.
If I were replacing the plastic tapered press-in pins with screw-in ones, I'd pull the plastic pins out, then still drill and dowel the holes (you'd want to have cylindrical-shaped home for a dowel), then drill the dowel for the screw for the strap button.
