I've never, EVER (I know right?) put flats or tapes on any bass I've owned/played in the 18 years I've been playing.. The constant talk of flats on a Dano is making me extremely curious, considering the tone I seek is quite the contrary. I'm up to four basses now that I can achieve that bright, punchy, growly tone I like, however I think flats on a Dano would just make it thump like nothing else.
What's a good brand of flats to check out? I typically play 45 - 100's on rounds as I could never find anything lighter gauge in my area (I don't like to wait for Mr. Postman). I'm trying to to expand my musical abilities by trying things that are very different than what I'm used to (hence buying an Eden amp over something like Fender/Ampeg), and playing music out of my typical genres.
