I can't believe I finally joined a club !

I play a jam every Sunday and often bring a back up bass ( that never gets taken out of the gig bag ). Just about everyone that sits in and plays my Dano says three things . They can't believe how light it is . Can't believe how comfortable it is to play . Can't believe how rich it sounds .

After they've sat in a number of times they just usually say that they seriously love that little thing . They really are a lot of fun to play .

I have a question for you dano owners: when I played a dano singlecut in a store, it was arguably the nicest looking bass I have ever seen. But the pickups were quiet, and with little punch to the sound. So do you know if there is a good kent armstrong lipstick pickup that will give that bass some more tone ? I play jazz/freeform, But this bass would just be for me since it is sooo beautiful and very light, i just want it to sound better.

If I had it to do over again, I wouldn't have put the Jazz pickup in my Long Horn. It didn't really improve the sound. Dano pickups are great. I took my Long Horn to a music store and played it through a Mesa Bass amp along side of a new reissue and couldn't tell much difference. All I did was diminish the value of my bass. If faced with a signal problem, I would just add a compression pedal or what ever you want to get a little boost. Of 6 Danelectros I have I've never had a signal issue. Good luck.

Last night I was playing my old longhorn through an Ampeg v4b -and loving it. I also have two sears silvertone 1444 basses with the dolfin headstocks and a six string bass made from an old body with a newer neck. Also I have one of the earlier Jerry Jones longhorn basses signed by Joey Spampinato of NRBQ.

This is mine:

It started life as a 30" scale baritone, but I strung it as a Bass VI. After I got a Schecter Hellcat VI, fulfilling my Bass VI needs, I bought a Danelectro 4 string neck and bridge (interchangable, no mods needed). It sounds really great, and is light as a feather.

Is your Dano purple? I have an opportunity to pick up a purple burst Dano, but I wasn't sure about the color. Its making me have second thoughts about picking it up! Purple is not my color but that actually looks pretty nice!

Yes, it is purple... fairly dark purple and, depending on the light it can look brown (dark brown not coppery). There is also some sparkle to the finish... a metallic sort of thing. I don't see many like it around. I get a lot of good comments on it. I happen to be really liking this bass.
