sweet! Now this is a great club! I requested a number in the Jazz Bass club probably 6 or 7 months ago now and still haven't gotten one. I didn't even request one here yet and I'm in. Whew!

I put the first ever set of flats I've ever used on my MIK Dano DC, Fender Stainless 9050ML's, and the tone is something else. You can get that warm, mellow flat-thump with the tone rolled back, but if you play with a pick, the clanky-ness is still there and it cuts nice. I wasn't used to the higher tension flats compared to the rounds I usually use at first. The smoothness of the strings and slightly higher tension make this thing play like glass, I love it.

I don't think I'll ever put rounds on mine ever again.

BTW, the first (reissue) Dano I saw in person was a green longhorn (just like yours) that was on the rack at my local axe shop. It was 1999 or so. I was hooked from that moment onward. I'm kinda jealous actually. You scored!

Yeah, I'm loving it already. I'm wondering if you can tell what strings are on here based on the color of the silk winding? It's a very light blue color and they are flats. I'm thinking I might swap them for la Bella white tapes. Any other suggestions?

I believe D'Addario Chromes have light blue silks on them.

Hmmm, I have chromes on three other basses and the silks are more of a royal blue. This blue is like a robins egg blue. Maybe they are lighter color for lighter gauge?

After reading a few threads, I have come to the conclusion that they are rotosound 77s. Here is a pic, with a pic of a mustang bass I have that I know has chromes.

I always thought the 3 pickup hodad was more popular. Ive been trying to trade or sell mine locally for a few months and practially had zero bites. When I had a longhorn or DC listed everybody was interested.

I'd totally buy it if I had the extra cash.. I love my DC but have always wanted a 3-pickup Hodad.

With Hodads being sold new for 399, I think everyone's waiting for the market to drop maybe to 300.00. Still going for 400 or so used. I don't know doodly about the quality of the new ones. That'll be the next Dan-O I get, they look intriguing.

Just curious ... is the Dano your main instrument ? Do you have "name" basses as back up instruments ?

Right now for what I'm doing it's a DC as my main, backed up with another DC and a Jaguar. I can't get over the sound .....just right for me. Up front but balanced IMO.
