Yeah -all the molded cases are deliberately very tight. But the vast majority of traditional style cases will work fine.

Lucky for me I had a Strat that needed a case anyway, so I kept that Gator case and ordered that tweed case in the above photo for my Longhorn. Tried to find the seller I got it from in case anyone wanted to know but it was too long ago, my eBay history doesn't show it anymore.

Here is the large paint chip with I-can't-remember-how-many coats of clear nail polish. Repairs by Cover Girl?

Bass polish? by thaddeusthompson, on Flickr

Anyway, it's just now getting above the surface. Next steps are to sand it smooth so the tape can lay perfectly flat. Oh yes - I ordered white when I should have gotten tan/beige. Fortunately I can exchange it. I'll tackle that part of the project after vacation. Then, get a dowel to fill the strap pin holes, install metal strap buttons, and put it all back together!

Anyone in the market for a near mint Dano DC Silver Sparkle (circa 99ish, MIKorea) bass? Got it recently but I prefer my Longhorn w/ flats. Let me know!
Would love it (last one on my "need" list), but I'm guessing you're not willing to ship to Toronto. (?)
It's a nice drive from Arizona this time of year... I'd total buy the coffee when you got here.

Is the White paper white or just off? Cause I suspect (if it's the latter) that's what you want on one of those to be "original" - they were pretty white when they were new - nowhere near what any sane person would all tan/beige. They do age a little - but my 6string (from whence my name) I've had since new and it's still pretty white - and ditto the longhorn I traded for it and the longhorn I have now - there are SPOTs where it has aged to what someone might call tan - but the core colour is VERY light.
Of course if you're just going for a more muted colour than I'll shut up - the original 60s ones were frog-belly white when new too.
Make sure you let the nail polish set REALLY well before you sand it - especially if you built it up with only a coat or two - it's quite soft until it's set.

I'd ship anywhere really if the buyer paid
Fair enough - naturally, I can't justify paying the shipping on a bass of that price (and if you're wondering the shipping FROM the border to Toronto 100 miles away will cost as much or more than the shipping from AZ to the border.
But seriously - you pick the coffee shop and I'll meet you. Heck, I'll even slide you a fiver for gas (of course that's Canadian, so like $1.10 real money). ;)

Gosh Darnit all to heck!!!
That's EXACTLY the one I want - original cool tuners (coolest ad tuners ever made) and wood bridge - now I REALLY want it (and nice price btw - you should have no problem selling that).
If you don't sell it instantly - add "Fat Mike" and "NoFX" to your keywords and title - lots of guys not generally Dano oriented want that very bass because it's associated with him but might not know what it's called - or know that they're looking for that until they see it.
Good luck!
Oh, never mind - I see down lower you have NoFX).

Is the White paper white or just off?

It was paper-white. Blinding white. It also had a rougher texture. It was more like the binding on the Dead-On '58 or (presumably) '56 Dolphin basses. The guy selling the tape (actually a TB'er) confirmed that the tan/beige/off-white was what I really needed after I sent a picture of my finish. I just read "brown" in the description and thought it was the color for the yellow basses. My Dano MIK guitars have the same tape color.

No worries there. I must have about 15 coats by now on each spot (there's another one next to the neck pocket). My intention was to get the layers built up until I could see it rise above the pain chip area and then sand down. I'm letting it cure for about a week until the replacement tape gets here.

Here's my current project: a Longhorn neck, a DanoPro guitar body. I cut the neck pocket this weekend.

I have to repaint the body because of that ugly discoloration (not sure if it's paint, or light/heat damage). You can see the outline of a shorthorn (or Hodad?) guitar body. Apparently, it was in a stack of bodies when the damage was done. I'm thinking I want it to be the same color. What kind of paint is in this? Enamel? It's a nice factory paint job. Shame about the damage.

I still need to make or acquire a pick guard (white?). I have all the rest of the parts I need except bridge screws. I think I'm using a Jerry Jones popsicle stick bridge.

Cool project! The color looks like it's close to seafoam green? Probably is enamel. Good choice to go with the JJ bridge. It's far superior to the Dano rosewood bridge. Can't wait to see the finished product!

I'm not sure how I'm going to paint it. Still thinking.

I think it is seafoam green. I don't have easy access to a nice sprayer, but maybe i know a guy. I don't know where I can find the color. I haven't actually even started looking. Rattle can? Might be impossible to find this color in a can, and the result might not be pretty enough.

I hope it sounds as nice to my ears as it sounds to my eyes.

The tape is just to figure out where the pick guard is going to fall.

Seafoam green was originally an auto paint color I believe. It shouldn't be difficult to find the color. Rattle can may do a fine job and if it don't strip it and start again! I've never attempted to paint a bass but maybe some of the builder supply sites have paint available. Think Warmoth etc....
