So, here's my new addition; a 2006 Longhorn from the the second "pro" series and the last year of Korean production before they went to China (and of course they're back now).
Very nice bass, got a decent deal on it so I'm happy as I've wanted a second longhorn to string with flats for a while now.
Cons: no tape, unmatched neck, don't love the asymmetric headstock (though I like it better on this one than on the 63 - everything's better in gloss IMHO)
Pros: better tuners, real strap buttons (though still behind the neck),
Neutrals: adjustable bridge (I like the rosewood) no tape (again, I prefer traditional, but it is a nice clean look)
Weirdly, this baby's about a pound and a half heavier than my 99. If I was going to sum up this series based on thisbass and features, I'd say it's a Fender player's longhorn, with the heavier hardware, adjustable bridge a heftier weight, it would be more reassuring to players accustomed to playing Fender products and less likely to elicit the usual "toyish" comments with fewer of the quirks and a more substantial feel - oh yeah, larger tapered (slightly) neck - than most Danos.
I don't think its gonna replace the green one, but a very nice bass, and definitely does feels better made (similar feel to the new MIKs I've triedf BTW) than the Chinese one by a good shot.
Sorry about the late night tablet pic...
