I have a 1963 stan dan that I bought new from a music store.

bought this in 1968 for eighty dollars,at the time was in a band.in 1969 I redid it so just the bass was left.it resembles the shorthorn 56.i've played ebo Gibson,p.bass,j.bass,tele bass most recently a pre ernie ball I bought in I think the eightys.currently in a classic rock band,byrds,Dylan.the musicman weighs around ten pound,much to heavy the dan weighs around5 1/2.moved the guitar pickup in front of the bridge.this plays and sounds great,playin thru 350 rumble with 2 10's,and I can play 3 sets on fri and sat nite's.with no problem's.oh I saw recently th stan n dan was worth 6,500.00, I think this one is worth more,its a one of a kind,no other like it on this planet,i wouldn't take that amount or more for it,will post pics later it is well worn,almost all the finish is gone,thanks

I like the idea, conceptually, but I don't know what's inside a Convertible body.

I did using a short scale Dano RI bass neck and the "Pro" adjustable bridge.

I would use ss neck,maybe a hofner tail piece.i think it would be a great sound,with that pickup inside,piezeo.my bass is great ,its got a up rite bass sound,every body comes up to me to talk about it.how did the one you did sound and where is it now?

Hey everyone!

I wanted to try the "pro" bridge upgrade. It doesn't fit, so I'm gonna go back to the stock bridge, but I can't get it to behave correctly (raising/lowering the action). Is there any trick to this I'm missing?

It sounds like a Dano and I still have it. Be aware, with my project it was necessary to widen the neck pocket a bit to fit the neck.

This approach has always troubled me, partly because it is an irreversible mod to the body and because of the risk of finish damage. I choose to shape the neck heel to fit the pocket. If the neck later gets put into a wider pocket, shims are easy to craft and are invisible once the bass is assembled.

I guess it depends on intent and confidence in one's skills. I had no intention of reversing it nor was there any risk of finish damage. I have also shaved neck heels instead since the intent was to make the neck more narrow, for example an Ibanez Mikro neck on a telecaster guitar body, as well as notching the neck heel on a similar project when the intent was to maintain the original fingerboard width and still have the option to remount the original neck to the body.

I wanted to make my Dano pop on stage , so i covered it in reflective color morphing hula hoop tape and put some reflective tape under the pickguard.

I want to get a decal that says "Glamelectro"

Anyone know a place that can do that?
