Haha... I think Doug could sell a lot of EQ pedals. I’ve had a couple of the deluxe drive pedals and have always dug the EQ and the blend features.

I've fantasized about a DG take on more 'utility'-ish pedalsHaha... I think Doug could sell a lot of EQ pedals.

totally. How about a EQ/comp/DI pedal... that would take three pedals off the end of my signal chain.
I’ve gotta an A/O sitting in the mailbox at work. I flipped my A/Om for the DG EQ.
totally.
On a less serious note: the Darkglass 0K Dark Matter. "You'll be Finished with your tuner search."
because DG is headquartered in FinlandFinnished?
I agree, but the Damnation MBD-1 has an equally good clean blend.I've always thought a DG eq with parallel inputs and a blend knob would be great...not sure how he does it, but Doug has the best blend knob in music.

And here's a n00b (me) joining this thread because I have just (yes, just) stumbled upon the awesomeness that is Darkglass. I'm playing an active Ibanez 5-string, and every time I think I've decided between the A:O or the B7K, I flip. I'm slightly leaning toward the B7K from the big comparison demo vid posted around here. I really liked the open gnarl I was hearing, as opposed to the more dense distortion of the A:O.
But, alas, I cannot decide -- and I don't know if I can swing trying to buy both and trying side-by-side...
I’m not a huge fan of the mid/heavy distortion sounds of the B7K, but I do like the lower gain sounds (mainly on the 900 head I own). I find the AO to have more range that I like. I also find the AO can sorta float between a B7K and a VMTD in some ways, with the EQ and A/O setting. For me, the AO wins for versatility, particularly since my various basses all intersect a little differently with it. I also like the heavier gain on the AO. YMMV. Haven’t checked the new version of the B7K.
I’d suggest getting both from a place that allows returns, so you can try them out for yourself. IIRC, both 8th Street and Prymaxe allow it. If you’re in the US, that is.Thanks for the insight. Versatility is something I'm looking for. I have an MXR Bass OD and an Aguilar Fuzz on my deck, so I'm looking for some legit distortion. Phat-like. The kind that makes you think the words "churning, chugging, guttural." And it'd be cool to be able to dial that back a bit to just beyond OD.

Have you tried running the B7K as a clean pre at the end of your chain then using the A/O as a dirt box? Mmmmmmm. Eettssooogoooooo
If you don't need DI, maybe you should check out the Alpha-Omicron?I don't need to use the A:O as a DI, either. My current signal chain is:
Tuner > Micro Thumpinator > MXR Bass Compressor > MXR Bass Overdrive > Aguilar Fuzzistor > MXR Bass Chorus Deluxe > MXR Bass Preamp.
I'm really liking my sound with this setup, etc., so I just need the fat dirt of the A:O (and a delay, I think). I'm assuming that, even though the A:O sports a DI and I won't need it, it's still worth it? There's no other Darkglass pedal that I'm seeing/hearing that can get me the sounds of the A:O from what I can tell.
