Darkglass - Alpha Omega

Here's a little sampler of my Alpha Omicron running into my SansAmp Bass Driver DI V2.

Gain goes from lowest to highest, and it's mostly just a sampler of 3 of my most-used AOm sounds. First sound is clean BDDI, after that it's:

Blend 01:30
Level 01:00
Mod 02:00
Drive 10:30
---
Blend 11:00
Level 01:30
Mod 10:30
Drive 02:00
---
Blend 11:00
Level 01:30
Mod 10:30
Drive Full

'Growl' disengaged and 'Bite' engaged on every sample.

Yes, most of it is very nasty.

I also turn off my noisegate which is set before the AOm at one point when the drive is on full, so you can hear how quiet the circuitry actually is.

Canada is tricky. I'm currently negotiating with a prospect distributor but I unfortunately cannot warranty the same timeframe.
Any update available? The official distributor (according to your site) has the pedal on their website but they have not received any yet. I'm still very eager for this pedal but I would rather not pay shipping from the states.
Thanks!

Thanks! Actually Diffusion Audio should have gotten their first consignment today!
More questions please feel free to ask them directly: [email protected].

Kind regards,
D.

I've said this elsewhere before, but the Alpha Omega does such an amazing job at producing the exact tones of Distortion that I've been hearing in my head for years. Eagerly awaiting NAMM to see if an Ultra version is put on display.

Thanks! That was exactly my experience when I listened to Karnivool's Sound Awake for the first time.
I'm extremely glad that some of that translated thoroughout the pedal itself.

Kind regards,
D.

I'm loving my omicron! I have to ask, did you reach out to Jon between Sound Awake and Asymmetry or did he stumble upon the B7k on his own? As much as I love the tones in Sound Awake the dirt tones in Asymmetry get me every time, and AFAIK he used the B7k extensively on that album.

Good question!

The answer is yes.

Sound Awake was done before I had designed anything, but a bandmate back in the day showed me Goliath and I was blown away the album.

Move forward 5 years to 2012 when Hugo (Darkglass cofounder and then sales and AR manager) reached out to Jon knowing that I was a huge fan of his and got him onboard just as they were composing Asymmetry.

The rest, as they say, is history.

Regards,
Doug.

Wow! Thanks for the answer. It's really neat that you got a hero of yours on board with your product, and even neater that you did a collaboration pedal! I gotta say, Asymmetry got me to buy a b3k almost immediately. If there is anyone following this thread that hasn't listened to this album... just do it.

Sound Awake is a perfect album. Asymmetry is just kind of meh for me. I was lucky enough to catch them twice in California for their sound awake tour and they blew me away. Jon’s tone is incredible in person. Kenny is a bit of a lackluster front man but his vocals are spot on live. I actually Felt sorry for Fair to Midland the second time I saw Karnivool. Karnivool opened up for them and just destroyed the Place.

I felt exactly the same about those two albums, at first.

And then suddenly Asymmetry just 'clicked'. I love them both now. But I do probably love Sound Awake just a teeny bit more...

@Darkglass , that is one very cool story!

One of the shows on that tour was at a small club only 10 minutes from where I lived at the time... Imagine my dismay when I found out about it a year after the fact!

Has anyone compared the A/O against the VMT? I simply love the deep, low end growl of the vintage but I've been tempted recently to switch it for the A/O.

I had them both for a time or two. I played and gigged the VMT for a long time before the AO came into my life. I looove the VMT and agree with you about the low end growl.

The AO can get in that territory on the Omega side (the wild side). The Alpha side scoops mids a tad and tightens things up.

In the end, I let the VMT go and kept the AO because it’s soooo versatile. You have a myriad of distortions from mild to wild and it will even encroach on fuzz territory with the sheer breadth of drive on command.
