Darkglass Anagram Multi FX Announced

Hi Anthony, I’m using a Cioks DC7 and Crux power supply with the Anagram. cheers.
OK, and how many outputs of the DC7 and in what configuration (cabling and dip switches)?

The reason I asked the original question is the suspicion that you may be using a power supply that is not supplying enough current. As a result, a lot of very random behaviour which is a classic sign of the problem.

I just want to rule out the most obvious possible cause.

Hey Anthony, I’m using 9 volt settings on all outlets per the attached photo on the Eventide (Cioks DC7 equivalent). The power supply also has 2 other pedals attached apart from the Anagram. Fyi, there are no issues occurring when using this power supply with my Quad Cortex. Thanks.

OK... not entirely clear though what is going to the Anagram and how.

At a guess, is it Output 2 and 3, using a Y connector, going to the Anagram? Or is it the Crux connected to the Anagram?
Please be super-crystal clear in describing what is connected to what.

If it is the Crux connected to the Anagram, then you should change the voltage dipswitch from 12V to 9V. The Quad Cortex can take 9V or 12V, but the Anagram is only 9V.

Yes. For the rest of you guys reading: the bare minimum to power the Anagram is 1.7A at 9v. It is recommended to get as close to 2A as possible to guarantee stable performance.

Hi Anthony, apologies as the attached photo is a bit unclear regarding connectivity. The Crux unit is currently set to 9 volt operation and connected directly to the Anagram. Also, I will use the original power adapter supplied with the Anagram for the next few days to see if it resolves the above issues / glitches. Thanks again for your help!

No problem! And I think that is a good idea to say least rule out the Cioks power supply. My concern is that if it has been run at 12V for any period of time, then your Anagram may (small, but not zero) have suffered some damage.
Finger crossed that is not the case!

Anagram supports both 9v and 12v so there shouldn’t be any issues regarding damaging the unit with running on 12v.

Well now I'm not so sure about it!
Ah! Good call! I should've also looked at the back of The unit! Is always facing away from me so I never actually look at it!
Ha! Well since I have configured the Cioks Crux adaptor to use 9 volt operation with the Anagram (instead of the default 12 volt setting), there have been no new errors or hanging / freezing glitches occurring. Therefore, I'm keeping my fingers crossed - hopefully this is the most reliable setting to use anyhow!

I think someone recommended the West coast pedalboard cioks current tripler cable. This seems be a much more elegant and cheaper, but equally effective alternative to running a crux. I'm planning on getting a cioks sol and the cable to setup a nano board. The current tripler will take up 3 outputs if the Sol leaving 2 outputs for a tuner, comp, tube DI.

On a separate note, does anyone know if the Anagram takes expression control through the midi trs via a midi controller like a morningstar MC series? I want to leave the fx loop free to insert pedals without the expression control taking up the return.

It does. It responds to CC 11 which is usually used for expression.

But you can also plug your expression pedal into the Anagram's Return and use an insert lead in the Send (a TRS lead that splits into two mono jacks) for the send and return of your loop. The manual is not very explicit about this, but it works - it's how I have mine set up.

Short quick review on the Anagram here. Two dozen gigs with it now on a very scaled down pedalboard. Coming from HX Stomp Xl board to Nano Cortex board to this one currently. Cioks DC7 and Crux power. Zero issues, been rock solid, super easy to tweak and added Broughton Messenger Jr. at the end since it’s been a favorite of mine for years due to quick dial access and adjustment after all the Anagram processing. It can do everything I need, compact and worry free. Looking forward to expected updates to include Phaser and possible metered compression. It’s a winner for me.

Hey all, I was wondering if anyone knew if it's possible to reamp with just the Anagram as the interface, and if so, how? I've never reamped before so its new for me, thanks in advance!!!
Yes! Using it as a USB interface. Then create two tracks on your DAW.

The signal that you want to reamp should be set to Output 9 (this is the virtual input of the Anagram)

The 2nd track should be set to Input 1 or 2
