Darkglass Anagram Multi FX Announced

Also curious how people are finding the Anagram compared to the standard DG pedals? I saw a few videos comparing them directly and they sound near identical, but it's hard to trust sponsored videos on YT.

I've owned the B3K, Alpha Omicron, and VMT, and I've found the DSPs to be really good recreations. I did sell the B3K and VMT long ago when I got the Microtubes Infinity and sold the AO when I got the Anagram so I wasn't able to do direct side by side comparisons of the first 2, but I've been satisfied especially when it's all together in a mix.

How does the anagram do going straight into an amp?

It works great. For my purposes I use an output block to send the signal to an amp ahead of any amp and cab blocks in Anagram.

I've owned a B1K, B3K, VMT, X, and a Duality. The B1K/B3K feels spot on. The VMT is very close, but I think the Era knob on the actual hardware VMT can be made a little brighter and less thick through the lower midrange than what happens when you crank it on Anagram. It's a minor difference and I don't currently have a VMT to do an A/B, so this comparison is only from memory. I only owned the X for a brief period as I quickly realized it wasn't for me. The X block in Anagram is also very much not for me, which leads me to believe the emulation is very accurate. It's a fine circuit, just one that I don't totally dig for my tone preferences. The only one that jumps out at me as possibly being different is the Duality. When I owned a hardware Duality I found that the gated side of the Duality knob was VERY gated. It was comparably gated to the 3Leaf You're Doom I owned at the same time. The Duality in Anagram doesn't clamp down as hard and get glitchy on the gated side like the hardware unit, which is a real shame. That glitchy gate character is fantastic for building synth tones, and unfortunately, I've not had good results doing this in Anagram. I no longer own the Duality pedal but have some recordings of it and I've not been able to duplicate the results within Anagram.

Appreciate it folks. I'm leaning towards the Anagram. I'm getting pretty tired of hunting for pedals/drooling over new amps/cabs. As the FM3 cured my guitar GAS/saved me a pile of money, hoping this will do the same for Bass stuff.

no no it does, I've just not had any luck running it through my amps amps/PA cabs. I've got it sounding okay for guitar through a GR guitars stereo FRFR, but for bass I just can't get it where I want through my bass amp or pa speaker.

Headphones though... incredible.

I am a Fractal lover through and through. Sold a pile of pedals and amps after getting one. I don't think the FM series excel as multi effects into a real amp though. Likely why they released the VP4.

I gave the video a watch, it's really simple and it's what I'm doing. But as soon as I put a track output to the virtual input, I get no sound. I'm sorry for being a pain in the butt! I'm not sure if I'm overlooking something or there is something going on with my computer. If I understand correctly, setting the audio output of the track I want to reamp to the virtual input should make it play through the anagram, yeah? So I can listen and tweak settings, then when ready to record I just click record on a new track with the input being the default, it should take the signal being played through anagram signal chain.

Havent had a chance to do the new update yet, but does anyone know if the phaser can be synced with the tap tempo? I can set the bpm on my Source Audio C4 to match up with our live set in logic, was curious if this did the same.

Correct, no input was going into the Anagram, neither meters were moving. I tried it on my brother's computer which has protools and it worked fine, super easy. I ended up giving a different DAW on my computer a try and it's working. I think my version of protools was messed up somehow, I went from having an active subscription to going to the free version without updating the software and I think it was causing issues. Sorry for the confusion. It's all sorted now, thank you for the replies and working with me!

When the talent enhancer block will be available?

Well, that will at least bring more parity with the Line 6 Helix which already has that on MIDI CC 128.

For those not familiar, Line 6 Helix manual, p77, MIDI Spec, lists a CC#128 with a function of "Talent Boost" and values of On/Off

With the new bass additions coming down the pike for FM9 & FM3, will you be revisiting bass tones? SansAmp BDDI, reworked B7k and Noble DI models should be interesting.

Absolutely... Shame FM3 is out of space for Dynacabs though. Hoping for an option maybe one day to pick and choose which DC's to load into the unit. I only use a handful, and would love to try the new/upcoming models.

The FM3 is cable managed nicely on my desk. Great for recording/headphone practicing. It's not going anywhere. I've got a great bass preset which is the B7K into a Mesa Carbine (I think), into two 115 IR's (ribbon on one, condenser on the other). It sounds great! This is why I was leaning towards the B7K in the first place. I really like what it does in the Fractal. I then went into DG shootout land and decided it would be too expensive to audition all the pedals... I like them all

I've got an excellent guitar rig already that I play if I want to make some noise, but always struggled with my bass rig. Looking at the price of new amps and pedals these days, I figured picking up something like the Anagram could help me transform my current amp into something more versatile. The SB115 sounds great at low-mid volume, but quicky runs out of steam and gets muddy at stage levels. With something as complex as the Anagram, and using the onboard EQ, compression, and filters, I should be able to cleanup the amp and get it performing better at higher volumes.

Right now I've got a bunch of pedals in the storage room that are okay for certain things so I should be able to sell those off as well.

Went to the studio yesterday to grab a load of captures done at the best quality I could before I part ways with a bunch of gear.

Just running into the issue of “Error, Incorrect Length”

Which obviously means my captures are a different length to the sweep. Only they’re not so I don’t really know what I’m doing wrong.

I can dm someone the link to the raw captures if anyone wants to have a look and tell me what I’m doing wrong.

So we’ve figured this out and I’ve just spent the last few hours testing my captures.

They’re all very much in the realm of tone sweeteners but for me it’s really elevated the Anagram to where I can’t fault it tonally or claim to be missing anything.

Hi, any Anagram user who has the previous experience with Boss GT1000 Core and can compare these two?
I have not used either and I have seen lot of videos of both - my impression is the Anagram is sort of "dry" sounding in general and more geared towards dirty sounds, while in GT I liked clean (Natural) preamp and X-comp to give the clean, defined, but full supportive tone, which is my goal (playing pop, TOP40, funk, soul). I know the Anagram is much more user friendly than GT, but I guess I can handle the GT UI.
So - any Anagram vs GT1000 Core thoughts?
