Darkglass Anagram Multi FX Announced

That’s me boarding the boat then.

Welcome aboard!

Am I right in thinking there isn’t app support currently? Is there anything this would be needed for? Anything that can’t be done on the device (I guess other than firmware updates)?

The device itself is the primary interface. It does connect to the Darkglass Suite, but it doesn't have the same functionality as say... Line 6's HX Edit. RIght now it is more of administrative functions - backup / restore, firmware update, cloud storage for presets, etc.

EDIT: I haven't tested the new firmware with the phone yet - that's actually on my list for later today, so treat this as current firmware status.

And I suppose, without bluetooth currently it’s not going to work with the phone app.

So next week could be more than just bluetooth due to what bluetooth enables.

Anyway…… mid to late August (when they’re expected back in stock and I pass through the UK) I’ll be grabbing one, I needed at least the same features of my Element before I could take the plunge.

It's not clear from what I've seen so far if bluetooth support can/will add app control or not. They have acknowledged Bluetooth will support streaming music from a device to play along with. Good for silent practicing, at least!
To me that's the only thing I need. I can do pretty much anything on the device, and I don't mind occasionally connecting to the computer for a firmware update.

Huh, I could've sworn the Modern IR's were based on Mesa cabs. That's interesting. Also thought the Super California was based on a Mesa 400/400+. Good to know.

Just want to make sure I'm not missing something. The primary benefits of Bluetooth getting activated are:

1. Wireless app control
2. Using wireless headphones/buds instead of the headphone out jack
3. Using wireless source (phone/iPad/etc) for audio in

Are there other benefits? Are there such things as BT MIDI control?

Never seen point 2 implemented on any pedal or musical instrument-related device. Common wisdom says Bluetooth headphones have too much latency for real time monitoring of instrument.

We’re getting point 3 and nothing else I expect.

Which I’m fine with, just don’t have an excuse not to buy one now 🤷‍♂️

Does anyone know if the FET block is fixed?
Following up on this. I’m back from my travels and was able to test Anagram on current patch. Hyper Luminal provided zero gain reduction once again. Previous commenters had suggested that a higher input gain setting was required, evidently ignoring in my previous tests that the input gain was cranked. To further this I stacked not one, not two, but THREE gain blocks ahead of HL, each with their gain set +20db. Still there was no measurable gain reduction occurring from HL within DDMF’s Plugin Doctor operating in hardware mode. HL was set with max input gain, fastest attack, slowest release, 20:1 ratio, and 100% blend.

By comparison Bus compressor still works great and is still my recommendation for compression with Anagram. HL provided a bit of tone color but no gain reduction. If you like that color, use HL. If you need gain reduction, don’t look to HL to achieve it.
