Darkglass Anagram Multi FX Announced

Couldn´t find anything online about this, but why is the overall mix always quieter when I use a split path?

And

The new Aguilar Plugin is amazing. As the Anagram does not have Aguilar Amps and Cabs, is it possible to make NAMs of a DAW / Standalone Plugin?
According to tone3000's faqs it is not allowed:
  • Captures of commercial software (e.g. plugins, amp sims) without permission — to prevent software piracy.

You can make NAMs of a plugin. That’s how I’ve made my B-15 ones with some extra magic sauce on top

Just updating my Anagram whilst I write this......its great that Darkglass are releasing more blocks, woohoo! It's just a pity that they are all grit / distortion / fuzz / overdrive 😒 Theres already quite a selection of these to choose from on the Anagram. I would have thought adding such as a phaser, tremelo, ambient or a "MXR bass synth" type pedal block would have increased the appeal to a wider market. 🤷‍♂️ I hope some more varied blocks are released in the future.

I have absolutely no insider insight on this, but I would not expect Darkglass to make a synth block. If they do, it likely would not be on the level of the MXR bass synth or SA C4. I believe there's a reason other multi effect companies (Line 6, Neural DSP, etc.) haven't made a serious effort on this front, because it's difficult and expensive to do well! Again, no expertise here, but I'd be willing to bet development of a single synth block would cost nearly as much as the development for the rest of the Anagram.

Maybe DG will develop something in the future and sell it as extra cost for the plugin?

I would be so happy to be wrong about this, but it's not something I'm counting on.

I think this is a good point, however, if Neural ever plans to port their Rabea plug-in to the QC they will have to.

Indeed. In any interview I've read/listened, they do allude at the difficulty of developing a synth block, and that they hope 3rd parties come up with one once they open up their SDK & marketplace platform.

Regarding a synth block: I’m curious if people understand the difference between processing a bass tone, and using a bass as a sidechain input to deliver program information to a synthesizer. For the latter the bass tone is ignored and the output is directly from the synthesizer and the bass is only being used to determine pitch, amplitude, and note duration. Building a working and good sounding synth engine is much more challenging for developers than building DSP that simply modifies the incoming tone in some meaningful way, which is evidenced by the sheer lack of viable synth engines available. Even the MXR mentioned a couple of times earlier in this thread is an analog synthesizer paired with some clever ADDA to get it sounding how it does, which would not be possible in Anagram. If Darkglass tries to implement a synth block it will likely just be a series of “one knob” versions of their existing DSP blocks in a single block. A gate, a fully wet octave down, a low gain fuzz, an envelope filter (ideally with a down sweep), and a chorus will get most folks where they need to be, even if it’s not actual synthesis, but that’s a lot of DSP in a single block.

but that’s a lot of DSP in a single block
I'm sure it is. But if Zoom, boss and Line6 (If I'm not mistaken) can do it, surely the anagram can.
Granted, these versions are limited and definitely not a full fledged synth, but I'm pretty sure the Anagram should be at least capable of producing something similar (if not better for bass). It doesn't have to be a full MRX or C4 clone for it to be useful, although I doubt anyone would object if they did make something similar. I know I wouldn't.

I was mainly hoping for a phaser as well.
Still... also like the selection provided here.

What are the bottom two blocks based on?

I think the Phaser will come, it's just a matter of time. Once we have that, and a tremolo, with these recent blocks, we should be good for a very solid baseline. The rest, I hope their SDK & Marketplace gets a proper launch for lots of 3rd party boutique add-ons.

I want to quickly send a shoutout to @IvanBassist for doing such a wonderful job promoting the Darkglass brand and the Anagram in particular. Your online community engagement, your videos, your social presence is truly a gem, and we're all better for it. Thanks a lot man!
Thanks! Really happy to hear it’s well received.

Trying my best and learning a lot!

Have to say I'm actually pleased with the addition of more dirt. I agree that this thing was/is dirt-centric by nature, due to it being a DG product. That said, I appreciate now having a wider array of non-DG dirt blocks to really mix up my drive sounds. I use some modulation, delay, and octave sounds, but I'm way less picky about those. Varied dirt textures are the biggest 'effect' in my arsenal - so more is better here.
