Agreed - these seem incredibly heavy and expensive for what they are.
For $650 I could get myself an Audiokinesis Hathor 1203 loaded with the super high output 3012LFs. And it would weigh all of 25lbs. Maybe it sounds great but the specs and price look like something out of a previous decade.
Agreed. When mine arrived, I was kinda surprised at the size and weight, considering I'd already seen the dimensions online. 6.5 lbs is pretty manageable, but there are heads which are half that (or less).
And I have tried several of them. Not impressed. I am impress by the Mesa D-800s though, the D-800+ one which is the most fair to compare the M900 to (with the amount of voicing you can get out of it, albeit different) comes in at 6.3 lbs, which tells me that this is what you need to get a good lightweight amp.
The M500 weighs 3.8 lbs which is less than the D-800 at 5.5 lbs, but also less power.
The Barefaced is 28lbs. These cabinets are way way way too heavy for 2017.
Well, they do say things return in cycles.
Based on this...give it another 20 years and these might not look like a joke.
Or maybe they initially wanted to release this on 1st of April and are running behind a bit?

I have not. I'm sure they'll be coming to Bass Central in Fern Park, FL. I'm fortunate to live a couple miles away, an I'll get to play through one.
Geez there's been some grumble about this release lol...from the first time I ever saw the NAMM cabs in the You Tube they were the most visually striking cab that I had ever seen...and talkbass and other places were flooded with want and compliments for these cabs.. DG brings them out and post a middle of the road spec sheet and the naysayers have had a field day...DG is known for above all else producing aesthetically pleasing but moreso tonally pleasing gear for bass players...If a brand wants to make a quality cab to compliment it's product range then that is a fine thing..we all very well know that not all boutique gear is designed to compliment each other and there is so much variability that it is confusing...DG has now become a one stop shop for a discerning bass player and I can bet that anyone using DG like that will be a pretty happy player...
I will note that I am a happy DG pedal user and that is probably all I will ever buy from them but this is one impressive company providing lots of great things for the bass playing community so feel that quieting a few naysayers is in order!!

@madmaskbass i think that as you have expressed your view, others are entitled to as well which there is nothing wrong with either way whether you agree or disagree.
The cab announcement was met with joy, because it was perceived it may be a good thing........
They are aesthetically pleasing i agree. Tonally they undersell themselves, and are pigeon holding the modern metal clanky sound where actually the clean sound is rather good on the amp.
All the companies say that you should pair their amps with their cabs, nothing new there, but boutique gear should be able to do more than pair with their stuff at a premium price.
To say DG is a ones stop shop for a discerning player as actually incorrect. For starters to be a one stop shop they would have to offer a bigger range of products than just various types of distortion and cabs for distortion (i know they do a compressor, tone capsule and pedals can be used as clean preamps etc before you say, but you get the picture)
Secondly i don't think anyone is complaining from a place of limited information, we are making a judgement based on the spec sheet released of the product, and there are a lot of people here far more educated than me who have commented on the product based on the spec. That is a Yay-sayer ratting on a Naysayer, whereas the Naysayer is questioning the product not the Yaysayer.
The M500 amp in the UK was released and £50 less than the M900 amp, to then make a price differential the M900 was then hoiked back up to the release price of a year ago - people are fine to question this about the manufacturer/retailers.

I have put my hand up and said i am prepared to be wrong, maybe all of the middle of the road spec will come together in a massive soup and produce a sound at least as good if not better than higher spec'd similarly priced cabs, i/we dunno, but until they do, there is no harm is asking the question.
I have used DG products SS, VMT, B7K, M900 - so do know a little about them, and yes no one forced me to buy or sell anything, but Nay and Yaysayers alike should talk and debate or it will be incredibly boring and then a fully informed decision could not be reached.

Regarding price changes. The pound has dropped against the Euro from 1.4 in 2015 to 1.12 now. That is quite a difference. It would be surprising if an imported product from a Euro based manufacturer didn't change accordingly. That is 1.4/1.12= 1.25 (25%)
So if the price of the M500 is £749 and the price for the M900 was £799(?) then if the increase was 25% according to the pound dropping against the Euro, then we have £999. And it is £925 now [1], so that seems reasonable.
