Good to see that I'll have quite some time to save up thenI can't comment on price or delivery date yet. Full specs and price should come in couple of months when we have a clearer idea of the itinerary.

'Surface Mount Resistors'.
...wouldn't there have been room for 'Propertubes' in there?
Maybe not necessary, but it's a great way to advertise, and also to get players opinions on gear that might not otherwise buy it to try it.I don't know that a tour box is really necessary and they aren't hurting for business anyway. Just buy it used and flip it for the same amount if you don't like it. DG stuff sells quick.
Thanks for the info! This morning Doug gave me the okay to fess up on this..... I too have known this for over a year now so ill quit playing completely dumb on this!!
From my understanding, the NAMM amps are actually bigger demo models, so the actual production amps will be smaller.... so to answer your question no, tubes probably *won't * fit in the final product!
These bigger NAMM amps were used for infrared heat testing to determine the best spot to put a fan to cool the amp!! Pretty slick and well planned out
And i laughed quite a few times yesterday when people were saying "it has to be expensive, their pedals are soooo expensive!!" Etc...one guy said he estimates $1,600 LOL
I don't know the exact price as of yet, but I feel pretty confident to say its *not* gonna be $1,600 LOL![]()
Thanks for the info!
So what's the point of bringing amps to NAMM( I take it that's what is happening?), that do not represent the actual product?
And will there be different versions of this(with more and with fewer features maybe?)?
Presumably, the actual version will sound the same. It's all about building hype. Look at Peavey. They announced the damn MiniMega two years ago, and it only hit shelves a few weeks ago. I doubt that's where Darkglass is going. Thanks for the info!

Fair enough. They need amps to demonstrate all the Darkglass pedals....why use some other companies amps and give them free advertisement?
Agreed on hype but there is plenty of that where DG is concerned anyways. No?Presumably, the actual version will sound the same. It's all about building hype. Look at Peavey. With DG having one designer, I wouldn't expect any other amps until this one proves successful, would you?
IMHO that would be foolish for them. The market has plenty of those kinds of amps, and their R&D to bring something competitive to market would make pricing even more prohibitive. They have pre amps that people love. Grab a chassis and a class D power section, and they have minimal development to do. This amp makes all the sense in the world for them as a company.unfortunately it isn´t class AB or all tube... maybe a future line of darkglass amps.
Source Audio did this with their Series One pedals - worked pretty well I think.Maybe not necessary, but it's a great way to advertise, and also to get players opinions on gear that might not otherwise buy it to try it.
I was part of that tour box cycle, and it's what convinced me to buy the Lunar that now resides on my board.Source Audio did this with their Series One pedals - worked pretty well I think.
