I think it's called Microtubes because that's much catchier than 'Surface Mount Resistors'.
I don't know, it could become the Darkglass SMR-Pro.

Quick everyone fight over claiming the original NAMM proto-amps. You know they'll sound better than the production ones, and it's a different form factor.![]()
IMHO that would be foolish for them. The market has plenty of those kinds of amps, and their R&D to bring something competitive to market would make pricing even more prohibitive. They have pre amps that people love. Grab a chassis and a class D power section, and they have minimal development to do. This amp makes all the sense in the world for them as a company.
Another thing, those NAMM demo amps *dont* have cooling fans as they are in a controlled indoor environment but they were used for heat testing! After NAMM the PCP will be modified/redesigned for space and cost efficiency in addition to the cooling fan and FX loop in the back... so I think the demo amps are just to get the news out there, I'm pretty damn sure the actual ones will be much smaller but still look the same with the unibody enclosure!

Needs a mute switch & tuner out!

Headphone amp requires an extra transformer to do right and is bedroom-only. Pass. Cab sim would also be new development - pass.
Mute switch and tuner out are super important for live performances and VERY cheap to implement.
I own two handbuilt Walter Woods amps, a MI-400-8 and a Woods Electroacoustic Ultra. When I look at the interior construction of the Darkglass, I'm reminded of those amps. Looking at these shots makes me very intrested in trying these amps.

Glad that sparked your interest!! I do hope those pics are vague enough that people can't tell *exactly* what's going on internally...
I don't think we're in any danger of here, since the only piece of tech I ever attempted was a pair of Knight Kit Walkie Talkies

I think it's fair to say that a vast majority of players are using pedal based tuners, even those who don't use any effects pedals. That renders both of those features redundant. The rest are probably using clip on these days (I'm not a fan/user but I see the appeal).
A mute switch is still perhaps useful for those folks but you can always turn the master down which is what I'm sure most would do without even thinking to complain or ask for a mute switch...
Anyone with a wireless and not using pedals is far more likely not to use a pedal tuner. In any case, why object to a useful feature just because it's not useful to you?I think it's fair to say that a vast majority of players are using pedal based tuners, even those who don't use any effects pedals.
