Darkglass Microtubes 900 Class D Amp

So I guess you haven't actually played one?

I've owned sm-400, sm-500, sm-900, workingmans 10, and currently have a 750x. My point was that they are a good example of an exception to my comment of most amps with tube pre's being pretty useless. SWR made good use of the tube pre compared to some of the newer amps out today.

edit: I'm aware the WM10 doesn't have a tube pre, but I listed it anyway :)

Many of the "misnomer name combinations" have made me laugh!

But, to be fair, it's not common to have actual Midgets living in your UK-made speaker cabinets or for a pedal to be religious relic of tantamount importance. Hammers are seldom if ever found in amplifiers. Clearly hyperbole, as these things are not intrinsically connected.

However, a tube is, actually, something you might readily find in an amplifier, so having an amp with the having the word "tube" in the name of your amp might, to reasonable people, suggest that there might be one of those tube-type thingymabobs up in thar.

I've loved all Darkglass products up to date especially their Tone Capsule onboard preamp which my both Spectors are loaded with and B3K which has the longest period of staying in my pedalbord...but building a head amp is a bit different story and IMO it is yet to be proved that it will be as good as amp as their pedals as effects versus the competitors...I remember the hype of revolutionary Little Mark of Markbass when it hit the music store shelves, but LM was not the first amp that Marco built...Again I've been loving all Doug's products so far, let's hope this little beauty will be as good.

Whoa, took me a while to catch up with the thread!

First of all thank you for the great interest!

Show starts in couple hours so I'll briefly address the main questions I've seen here:

- As for the name, it's just a carry over from our pedal line.
Just like the engines on Tesla's Models S and X don't contain actual trains ;).

Oh an he's, the second 500Hz was a typo: Low mids are - like some of you correctly guessed - 250Hz, 500Hz, 1k.

I can't comment on price or delivery date yet. Full specs and price should come in couple of months when we have a clearer idea of the itinerary.

If anyone's around come say hi and try the amp!
